sara bloomquist is live where investigators are trying to piece all of this together. >> reporter: that is right brian, the accident investigation division and when he was knocked off the bike by a passing car. he was able to get to his feet to try to stop the vehicle. and the vehicle proceeded away. >> reporter: police say the off duty cop identified himself as a police officer and the officer fired his gun an unknown amount of time and one bullet shattered the temple university hospital's services center that was closed at the time. and the driver turned himself in later. police cordoned off the car on the 600 block of cambria. we could see front end damage and a bullet hole in the side. a few blocks away a police vehicle was positioned outside of his home. >> it was fortunate nobody was injured as a result of this. based on the shots fired. and you don't know where these bullets are going to land. >> the police officer suffered minored injuries when he fell off the motorcycle. aid will investigate the collision and internal affairs will decide if the officer was justified when he fir

sara bloomquist is live with the latest on the police investigation. >> reporter: rick, the district attorney's office and norristown police are conducting a joint investigation into this homicide, this is a busy spot in norristown and the victim was found dead in the drive-thru lane of the restaurant. police were called at 11:39 last night after neighbors heard numerous shots fired and then screams. arriving officers discovered the victim, a 26-year-old male with six gunshots to his torso, he was pronounced dead at the scene. police told "action news" that the suspect fled from the mcdonald's parking lot to the transportation center across the street. investigators were checking the restaurant cameras for clues but have not released any video. >> i am surprised to hear about this. >> some patrons were rattled about the homicide at the place they frequent. >> it's way too close to home. >> are you not expecting nothing like this here. >> other customers were not surprised to learn of deadly violence here in norristown. >> terrible but not surprising for norristown. >> why not. stuff
