and all the fire activity in southern california. they did not pick up nearly as much rainfall as expected. they were getting so much hype that it did not deliver. and things are critically dry. and fires have really taken off. ocean beach, 60 degrees. walnut creek, tack on 40 degrees. that's summertime in the bay area with the fog having a big impact on the coastal temperatures. and even the wayside communities as well. and we traced in the surface winds. and there's the fog bank and has been cooling off parts of san francisco. san francisco is split in half. the western half has the foggy conditions. and temperatures are not so shot in san francisco. areas in the mid- to upper 90s. fairfield, 91 degrees. concord is only 85 degrees. and i've cooled off the forecast high mainly in the 90s for the afternoon. santa rosa is 83 degrees. an air alert for today and thursday. air quality taking a hit with the weather pattern. we would have that in place if we did not have the fire down the south. and that's adding to the mix of smoke drifti

not just california. because i was nominated for several things at once, i thought it was unfair to just passively let the processes unfold. in other words, somebody might be better suited for a position than i. if i stayed in it and once i was slotted in for one, someone else might have been eliminated for another. at the end of the three days we felt strongly called to california. i called the other places i had been dominated and withdrew from all those. i still wasn't on the final list here. it was like walking off. we didn't know if we would be chosen, how the election would go. it's a very public process. election of a bishop is -- we have what are called walk abouts. five different churches here in the bay area hosted each one a walk about and over 1,000 people that week came and asked questions. then they had the election two weeks later. >> what was the toughest question that someone asked you in the walk abouts, do you recall? >> that's a great question. the american south and the bay area are i
