personality and individual leader in indiana. as the country gets to know them, they will very much enjoy them and like them. that's also why, as has been reported in many places, the official vetting of governor pence was fairly clean. john: it has been a lot of activity even outside the veepstakes drama today. the campaign is obviously monitoring that pretty closely. some like efforts to force kind of compromise have broken down. what can you tell us about what is going on in terms of something that will get you guys what you want and get a relatively peaceful convention? as you say, the conversations are ongoing. that is precisely the function of the committee and the week. i think these conversations are healthy. democrats obviously had conversations like that and orlando where the sender's people got an awful lot of what they wanted and he is not even the nominee. these conversations are healthy. there are people who would seem disappointed today because they but may actually be looking to make a difference for 2020 and not

indiana governor mike pence seems to be the front-runner. confirming that he left indiana to new york where trump plans to announce his pick tomorrow. it was a media circus outside governor pence's home in indianapolis. about two hours ago, tv crews reported pence left the mansion and has not returned. donald trump has said he wants someone with experience in washington. pence has been indiana's governor since 2013. but before that, he served six terms in congress. and this morning pence tweeted about his hoosier state. and touted lower taxes and how he helped create jobs. donald trump jr. said it's down to three candidates. governor pence, new jersey governor chris christie and former speaker of the house newt gingrich. aundrea? >> chris christie makes it clear that he wants to be the vice presidential nominee. but he said if he does not get the job, his focus remains on getting donald trump elected president. >> there's no one who is better prepared -- >> reporter: new jersey governor chris christie also serves as a chairman of donald trum

, we want to do it the indiana way. >> when you hear somebody say this is indiana's obamacare light? >> we ruled out expanding traditional medicaid. medicaid is a deeply flawed system that ill serves people that are enrolled. the state of indiana is a leader in consumer-driven health care. >> pence is pro-life and in favor of traditional marriage. pence continued getting into the 2016 race too. but decided against it. a decision that came after a major backlash of his signing a religious liberty bill into law that was opposed by many indiana businesses. the law would have denied services to gay, lesbian or transgendered customers if business owners said it conflicted with their religion. weeks later, the law was revitzed with pence's blessing to protect the lgbt community, then upsetting social conservatives. >> the religious freedom restoration act was about religious liberty. not about discrimination. had this law been about legalizing discrimination, i would have vetoed it. >> a lot of people look at you as somebody who has a lot of potential. a guy who's very successful. has fore

if you add in indiana that's 11 states. there are 11 states on this map that are held by republicans where democrats have at least a decent chance or at least perspectively have a chance of making these races competitive and picking them off. there are only two democrat held seats where republicans right now have a realistic chance of picking off the democrat and picking up the seat. if you're a democrat you got to turn and hold these two blue ones, nevada and colorado, then look at these red states. you go the to pick off four of them. that could get you control of the u.s. senate. so evan bayh has been living in washington with, but there's a chance with him in the race the democrats could get this seat. there are a number of others up here whether it's new hampshire, pennsylvania, ohio, illinois where democrats seem to have good chances. there are stretches on the board. north carolina might be tough to put in play but there are more opportunities for democrat and with evan getting in the race in indiana that's another o
