manatee east of bradenton, seeing pockets of moderate to heavier rainfall. nothing torrential at this hour. further to the north is where the steadiest and heaviest rainfall has been falling. it hasn't moved much. however it's position is important. because otherwise we would have been in this pocket of 15 to 20- inch rainfall tallies, according to the doppler radar, just to the west. if hit the brakes along the coast along the coast. the issue is again we have saturated cells to the north. this is where we have the potential for flooding. these are not warnings, these are watches as conditions are favorable for flooding because of the additional rainfall that is coming in. again anywhere from 3 to as much as 6 inches especially along the coast, a little less as you head inland. the rest of us, just a murky day. pockets of moderate to heavy not expecting too much thunderstorm activity but there you see right through the midday hour for lunch and then waves that continue to move in through the evening hours. by the way won't really dry out until that low move

peter bernard joins us live in bradenton. we saw you do a live shot earlier, we were yelling at the drivers, don't do it and they continue to drive into that water. >> reporter: i know and i wanted to stop people too but i'm just a reporter. you have heard the old rule about not driving through water where you don't know how deep it is. well, some people out here apparently didn't get the word, fifth street west is under water and it is littered cars that apparently decided they could make it through but they couldn't. take a look at some of this video. we spotted dozens of cars flooded out along fifth street west. those with high axles made it through fine but regular cars had water ingested in their intake and that spells the kiss of death for the car. the water depth is up to your knees in some spots. at the flora danna mobile home park near this location some elderly residents needed to be evacuated and rescued because high water surrounded their cars. this area floods almost every year. i spoke to a car owner who said he

so far, bradenton and sarasota, it's been quiet. i still think as we get into late morning showers, you're going to start to deal with some showers as well. so you're not completely out of the woods and then, of course, pinellas county, you can see here with all the heavy rain. looking at the forecast here for the next couple of days, while the rain chances are going to still think they're going to stay above normal for the next two or three afternoons. and the flood watch, which we've been talking about, also will continue and that's going to continue until at least tuesday afternoon, tuesday evening for those areas. that's why we've seen the heaviest of the rain. you've had three, four, five inches of rain in hernando county, citrus county. this low is going to sneak back toward the west it will lessen its impact. its grip will not be as tight on the area and then we'll be able to get back into more of a typical afternoon and evening setup. but that's not going to be for a couple of days so really, what you're looking at is kind o
