something like that this a list of set of electrical codes from 1984 the building code are not much bigger and after 84 years of disaster and input if the public in 1984 san francisco decided to adopt a building code and that was fine except for san francisco has a long history for years of developing their own solutions to they're specific problems of zero lot lines and at all skinny buildings and fire spread and earthquake resistance that kind of thing they amended the building code to carry forward those first 84 years and thirty years later a single group of code this big on my desk a it has grown with improvements in california they adopted a planning code for codes and international co-counsel codes and they adopted the model codes by state law and did the same thing as san francisco incorporate california's specific laws in the code they take the codes and add the information they need to be workingable in california and, of course, san francisco did the same thing to that group of codes so this happens ever 3 years and bring in the new codes we're required to enforce those c

in addition, and other mental health branch we also have a code enforcement then inspects sros for code enforcement and habitability. so over the last three years the entire mental health branch was talking about ways to convene stakeholders to mitigate disease and issues with tenants. disease and injuries and as i was good at the same time the whole commission started talking about food security in sros. so we came together and presented some of the work that we've been doing. we realized, because of the complicating factors about expanding food security within sros that included building conditions, vector control and supportive services, we were kind of take these two processes into different directions. so the san francisco food security task force did a very specific survey of residents of sros around food access and we decided to take a very broad approach. just looking at all the different policies that can really improve the health of tenants. our goal of this project was to achieve better health for sro residents through public policy. so that's and what brought us here today.
