lift is the radar that's scanning across portions of the east bay. as we go ahead and get you into exactly what storm ranger is because we know a lot of you are weather buffs but some of yu may be learning something in terms of new technology. it will give us a two-dementional view of storms, gives rain intensity and hail and how big it might be. we know we get hail when winter storms come in across the area. and the x-band radar helps to detect wildfire smoke and some of that has been moving in our atmosphere most recently. here's the other problem we run into radar in the bay area traditionally. this is where our typical radar is located. it's at 3,335 feet. as zahns around the radar beam, a lot of times by the time it gets to san francisco it overshoots the top of storms and we can miss some data. with storm ranger on wheelsing we can drive it to a location where we think storms will hit the most or smoke from storm. we do have storm ranger fired up. we saw it out there in the field. today we have it in the east bay. right now specifically in dubl

this is a mobile radar, so now when you see the red sweeping radar, that is our mobile radar. it has wheels on it. it's on a giant truck. i'm sure you'll see it later on in the newscast. but this particular vehicle has a radar on it. we can drive it anywhere we want any time we want and in any weather condition, and what it does when i tell you, it fills in the gap. it sees what the stationary radar has missed, for example, it's also closer to the ground in some cases, we can see what precip is actually hitting the ground and where are you such as freezing rain or snow or rain, so, again, in the winter weather, just remember this. you don't want to miss storm ranger ten. able to give you a more specific look of what's happening and a more accurate forecast and with our neighborhood weather can drive it anywhere as well as the seven day behind the bottom of the screen. a lot of new tools and look at a lot of thunderstorm activity towards kent county and smyrna seeing very heavy rain. a lot of lightning here going on crossing the delaware bay at the moment. delaware has been see

the radar, the white dome, that's the doppler radar and what is great about the tool, it's not stationary like the other radars that we use. it's mobile. it's on wheels and we can take it anywhere. and give you the latest updated information, especially near the surface, where the other radars when storms are coming through, so you will see it from time to time as we go through the rest of the season and beyond. all right, here is a look at the temperatures out there right now, it's a quiet night and comfortable in most spots. humidity will be coming up a bit, and tomorrow, we will feel it more so. you have the same temperature, oakland, 71 and west milford, 73 in islip and 68 in danberry, not bad for you. had a couple of isolated showers earlier, but those have dissipated, and what is left over is down toward philadelphia moving in to cape may, it should be quiet for the rest of tonight. however, a lot of moisture settled off to the south and we are going to see some of that bubble up tomorrow and a couple of isolated showers may pop up in the afternoon. it's quiet through this morning.

take a look at what we're seeing on the radar. just a few isolated storms here across hillsborough and pinellas counties. pasco county, sun across the parkway. just isolated north of zephyrhills. this is really hit or miss. we have had a few that lingered a little bit like this batch of storms ari-75 in sarasota this has generally been moving from west to east. we're seeing the reverse pattern kick into gear. as we look at the radar in motion, you can see they been lingering around the i-75 corridor with a few pushing through hillsborough county and polk county. those have been fizzling out. not a ton of coverage tonight. temperatures as a lack of coverage are still pretty warm out there. right now, 87 degrees in tampa. clearwater, 82. st. pete clear skies. take a look at the winds. the majority coming from the west now. so we are seeing that westerly flow starting to kick in. it will be more apparent tomorrow. so the futurecast is showing the showers and storms kind of bubbling up here through 8:00. and then through midnight, we

the radar beamed those up in the earth's curvature, shooting up into the clouds, if you've got radar down there, or way out there. so we put the radar right where the storms are. you're within this inner ring. that's within 30 miles. you get the most accurate information there. so we've got the truck close enough to this storm. so we're within 30 miles. and if it had large hail, if it had indication of a tornado, we'd have a better chance of detecting that. now, as we go through the next couple of days, we're going to keep the onshore wind. but it's going to weaken. so those clouds are going to be breaking up. we're going to see more sunshine, we're going to see lower humidity. later on during the week, the 90-degree temperatures, and higher humidity start to return. there's the showers moving out. once they move out, we're in a dry pattern. except for saturday, we may stay dry for ten days. so here's philadelphia tomorrow. starting off kind of nice. ending up kind of nice. sunshine all day. east wind. no showers or thunderstorms. this is the feels-like temperature, okay? there's the

and we'll show you the radar in one second. late august and this is a treat plains of colorado. 50s and 60s up high. and the western slope is enjoying 70s right now. 75 at the airport. fort collins, loveland airport. and last couple of days we've been watching the upper level low sitting and spinning and drifting and the further north it gets it will eventually kick out and for today it's in we're starting to see activity in the colorado springs area. and i'm going to get a little closer. just south of cheyenne and burns, wyoming, and north of fort morgan. we have a line of storms developing in the last 25 minutes. and showers popping over the front range foothills. this trend will continue. our weather watcher had an inch from those storms yesterday. here's and widely scattered storms all across the higher elevations in the eastern plains. not everybody will get wet but we have an equal chance toe see one of these. if they pop, it's possible. you could get locally heavy rain and the storms will go until sunset and as we lose t

what you see on the right is the doppler radar. as joe, our photographer up there manning the truck, continues to zoom around, you can see the satellite dish on the top of the truck and twars the left, the beautiful view there from twin peaks towards downtown san francisco, which is showing the fog that is moouing in right no. as we get a look at the scanning sweep of storm ranger, the really cool thing about this tool is while there is not any rainfall, no storms moving in, with the high resolution of the radar along with the doppler, we are able to show you some of that mid level moisture that's producing a little drizzle. now, there's a little clutter near the radar that's typical, but what we're noticing here near the golden gate bridge is the mid lev moisture, which is producing areas of drizzle. if you're traveling over the golden gate bridge tonight or the maria t low clouds are going to be with us and a little bit of wet weather. you may need the windshield wipers on. you can see right out here right now, we are tracking 61

the wind is going away from the radar and at a velocity of about 45 miles an hour. that's up off the ground but we can see some of those downdraft type situations setting up with the possibility of hail or, excuse me, wind damage as that comes in. >>> we also have a little hail that is riding in there so this is certainly our most intense it is right along 322 near munson township continuing to the east. that hail is now producing the potential for 1.5 inch hail but it does melt as it comes down. >>> and you'll notice that that particular hail core is in the exact same place as where we have a whole lot of lightning and that is they go hand in hand. when we get good hail and upward motion of that hail, you'll have a lot of lightning and that is certainly what we have in that particular area. >>> further south into streetsboro, twinsburg, hudson and into cuyahoga falls, we are getting a lot of very heavy rain and lightning, of course, that seems to be kind of still growing. >>> this, too, will continue to move to the east and as it does so it will be impacting areas
