alcides segui is live at the supervisor of ect i did not know that this had happened. it's pretty fascinating to me. >>reporter: yeah. and let me tell you, you're not the only one. it's been more than a week since election day and yet we don't have a winner for the hillsborough county school board district seven seat. as it stands right now, election office says they need more time. they will hopefully have an answer this weekend. here is where it stands. lynn gray is leading the race 1200 votes, maybe more than that, maybe less than that. again, they're still calibrating the votes that have come in. the reason it's taking so long to announce the winner is because there are so many ballots. the school board race is countywide and this year it's seen a record turnout because the presidential race. the size of the recount, according to the elections office is unprecedented. more consisting of two sheets of paper. that means either separating all the pages before running through the scanning or just scanning all the paper. another reason is, the mail-in ballots. when they

because the today, the traditional big shopping day we didn't see many long lines at all alcides segui hit stores this black friday reports from bestbuy in tampa. black friday is under way i got to tell you not what it used to be they were lines of people waiting to get into big box retail stores. part it was very quiet. we got to this bestbuy early this morning. and there was about maybe a little less than 100 people when they opened there are doors here bestbuy at 8 o'clock this morning. again in years past there were hundreds and hundreds of people and if you're wondering why, a lot of it has to do with their big sales. it was actually yesterday, their bestbuy had their big black friday sale at yesterday at about 6 o'clock. and lot of big box retail stores are doi on thursday they are having their sales. for example target, and walmart, macy's jc pennies kohl's. most big box stores had their sales on thursday. now they are more door busters on friday but not nearly as big as it was yesterday. with that said if you're going shopping make sure you're aware your surrounding sarasota po

"usa today" did a story on this a couple of days ago and local ymca's are still trying to figure out if providing something they're even able to do. for example, one here in south tam park the ymca off himes avenue, i'm not completely sure they're going to participate in this type of service. i do know of two different locations that are. one of them is in north pinellas county. that's in more specifically in the palm harbor area. they're going to be providing child care on election day the entire day. and here's the thing. it's free service. you don't have to be a member at all. children and it's up to an hour and a half. the other location that is also going to be providing this service is in hernando county. more specifically, in spring hill. it's their ymca in spring hill. it's only fr

alcides segui, mail-in ballots right? >>reporter: part of the holdup. the other is a record amount of ballots second here to hillsborough county, really just across the country. hillsborough county is the focus because it's such a tight race for the district seven seat. we have lynn gray leading cathy james by less than 1%. it equals out to about 1200 votes. the reason it's taking so long to announce a winner is because there are so many ballots. school board race is countywide and this year, record turnout because, you may have guessed it, the presidential race. the size of the recount is unprecedented. there are more than 608,000 ballots, each consisting of two sheets of paper. that means either separating all of the pages before running them through the scanner or just scanning all 1.2 million sheets. obviously that's going to take a lot of time. another reason it's taking so mailed in ballots arrived folded and it's taking more time to scan those papers as well. election officials need to work quickly. on tuesday, the elect board or the school board
