last time nbc10 covered a water main break here, the broken main was 120 years old. so certainly you can imagine the other mains nearby are about the vintage. these are now new pipes that are breaking under the shoprite plaza and causing all this trouble. >> all you need is about a foot of water or water to come up past the floor of these cars. have you seen any of these people able to pull out the cars that were actually partially submerged? >> reporter: there's a pretty distinct difference here, you can see some of the cars in the dry spot of the parking lot, which if the people can safely get to them, they will be fine. the water never got to them. but let's pan to some of those cars that are more deeply submerg submerged, you can see that car that's sticking out in the middle of the water pornding there. that is just a low sedan, and the water which is receding from it's peak, that car it looks like is near the bumper. so enough water to cause some serious damage to cars that have been parked out there. the shoprite has been through this two times in the past, wi

the other night it was the busy traffic on north main street in brockton obscures the road. if you look closely you can see spray painted markers. a grim reminder of what happened here very early friday morning. it was past closing time and a man was walking out of the spot bar and lounge with friends. when we got to the street everything changed. this surveillance video shows what happened. a car approaches the man. we are not showing what happens next because it's too graphic. an instant later he was hit and injured. the car kept right on going and left the scene. you can see people running over to try to help. and those who were with him appear stunned. the owner of the bar gave police the video. >> they have the video. we were very forthright with that. i'm in constant communication with them. bad impact. >> the man was taken to a local hospital and transferred to saturday night police towed a vehicle. a vehicle they believe may have been involved. the victim is described as a brockton man around 25 who also has family living out of the country. those relatives are said
