i'm pamela osborne, nbc 10 news. >> pamela, thank you. >>> fiphiladelphia police want know who shot a teenager to death. >> the 14-year-old was shot on the street in mayfair. matt delucia is live at police headquarters this morning. bring us up to speed on this investigation. >> reporter: right now the homicide detectives want to know why this boy, just shy of 15 years of age, would be the target of gunfire. take a look. this was the scene last night on the 6200 block of brous in mayfair around 9:00. neighbors heard gunfire. a 14-year-old boy was shot three times in the chest and torso area. the officers who showed up pretty quickly rushed him to the hospital but he died about a half hour later. neighbors rushed outside trying to do what they could to save the teenager. >> nobody wants to hear the news of their child passing and in that manner. >> he just -- i tried to lift his head a little bit, make him comfortable. he felt like dead weight to me. he wasn't even old enough to shave. >> reporter: and that woman there, donna, says she to talk with the boy and reassure him before polic

. >> let's get to nbc10's pamela osborne live on the scene. i know police gave us a briefing earlier, and you're continuing to get new information. what can you tell us? >> reporter: well, i can tell you that this investigation involves self different agencies. i'm going to step out of the way and show you where everyone is gathered right now. we have postal inspectors. the atf bomb squad and philly police all trying to figure out exactly what happened in the first floor apartment of a row home on pine. at this point time, that apartment is being called a crime scene. here's what we know. a 62-year-old man was injured around 4 cloer:00 this morning package exploded. according to police the package arrived sometime yesterday evening. not sure how it was delivered. that is part of the investigation, as well. it's not clear at this time where the package came from or what the contents of the package were. we do know that 62-year-old man who was injured has had medical inhalers mailed to him before. investigators considering two things at this poi

nbc 10's pamela osborne is in hunting park in front of st. christopher's hospital where one of the kids is recovering. what can you tell us? >> vai, i can tell you, the youngest child pulled from that fire was only 11 months old. that baby was transported to einstein hospital. a second child, a 6-year-old, was brought here to st. christopher's. they were listed in critical condition when they arrived. firefighters say both children were rescued from a row home on sheldon street in philly's olney neighborhood a little after 9:45 last night. 40 firefighters were on scene within a matter of minutes, rescuing the kid from the second floor as they were working on putting out that fire. when the children were brought out, firefighters immediately started working to keep them alive as neighbors looked on in shock. >> this fire, like so many others points out the importance of fire prevention, fire safety in the home, having a working smoke alarm on every level of your home. >> and fire investigators areç trying to determine a few things this morni

i'm pamela osborne, nbc 10 news. >> pam, thank you. right now there's no new deal to report for septa's 4,700 bus, trolley and subway operators. >> both sides have been talking. nbc 10's matt delucia is live outside the callowhill depot. how are things going? >> both sides are talking but there's no deal yet. septa made an offer last night but the union rejected that. we once again see the workers on the picket line outside the callowhill depot. negotiations continued well into last night. septa says they and the transport workers union local 234 continue to make steady progress. congressman bob brady stepped into the negotiating process as well. the big sticking points have been health care and pensions. last night, brady told us he is concerned about voters getting to the polls on election day. that's just a few days away. philly mayor jim kenney and governor tom wolf are also concerned. >> this is something that is just bad for everybody and it has to end. >> we're urging them to continue to talk. understand, you know, that people a

nbc 10's pamela osborne is live in the breaking news center. tell us more about this search. >> investigators are asking for the public's help on finding this four-year-old child. i spoke with the charlotte county sheriff's office this morning, that is where that little girl was reported missing from. that's when we learned this missing four-year-old was actually taken several days ago by her father who does not have custody of her. take a look. here she is, her name is anabelle richardson, she's 3 feet tall, 22 pounds, she has green eyes and short blond hair. we are being told by authorities in virginia that her disappearance just met the criteria for an amber alert late last night. here is a look at the man who police say took her. his name is dylan richardson, he's 5'10", 140 pounds, he has blue ides and brown hair. investigators tell me he has friends and family in new jersey that is why they suspect he could be in our area right now. here is what you need to know. richardson is driving a 1995 burgundy chevy van with a virginia license plat

nbc10's pamela osborne is live for us. walk us through what happened here. >> reporter: well, first, i want to give you an update on that victim's condition. we just got new information. we know he is in surgery right now, he is expected to survive after being shot multiple times in what police are calling an attempted robbery that started right here in this alley. according to investigators, one shell casing was found in a back alley, about five feet away from a closed pocket knife. all of this was nearby where the victim lived. they believe the knife may have belonged to the victim. the victim ran about 50 feet down the aisle into the rear basement door of his home. police say the shooter chased him down and shot at the victim three more times, as the victim tried to get to safety. it was actually the victim's father who found him halfway inside the doorway of his home. he was rushed to the hospital where he is in critical condition right now. police say he was shot multiple times. the shooter got away from the scene. we

. >> pamela osborne is live in in the breaking news center with more. what's the update? >> well, protesters have taken to the streets in cities all across the country. but right now we're keeping a close eye on what is happening in portland. police are calling the demonstrations there a riot. within the past hour, portland police say they have deployed pepper spray and rubber baton rounds to try to get a handle over the crowd. last night a crowd filled the streets in portland. this is video from the nbc affiliate there. it started as a peaceful protest and then things turned unruly and heated with people smashing four windows. police called it awry the on ri they moved in to stop some of the vandalism. at one point protesters tried to take over an interstate highway forcing officials to shut down a portion of the road. and then there was this person in portland caught on camera taking out his anger with a baseball bat. he's hitting an electrical box and you can see the sparks flying there wil crowds cheer. and in oakland, california, a third night of protests drew hundre

nbc10's pamela osborne is live. >> reporter: i just checked in with police. and we know that victim is still in critical condition. we know he was taken into occurring this morning. he is expected to survive, despite being shot multiple times. i want to show you what police are doing today. take a look, you can see a surveillance camera here. there's another one across the street. both of these cameras point in the general direction of this alley where that first shot was fired. now police are still trying to piece all of this together this morning to figure out exactly what happened. but they believe this was an attempted robbery. the 18-year-old victim was shot not far from this home when he was in a back alley right near bridge street. police found a shell casing and a closed pocket knife. it's possible they say that that knife belonged to the victim. the victim ran about 50 feet down the alley to the rear basement door of his home. the shooter followed and fired three more shots into the victim. the victim was shot multiple times in the home. it was actua

. >> pamela osborne is live outside children's hospital. tell us about these kids and what happened. >> that's right, vai, we just got brand new information from police. one of the youngest childrenç rescued from that fire was only 11 months old. that baby was transported to einstein. a second child, a 6-year-old, was brought here to st. christopher's hospital. they were both listed as critical when they arrive. firefighters say both children were rescued from a row home on sheldon street in philly's olney neighborhood, a little after 9:45 last night. 40 firefighters were on the scene within a matter of minutes. they rescued the kids from the second floor as he were fighting that fire. when the children were brought out, firefighters immediately started working to keep them alive as neighbors looked on in shock. >> it's always difficult to locate people inside of a burning building, you know, despite what you see on television, you can't see anything. there was a lot of smoke. the smoke is down to the floor. you platerally can see nothing

pamela osborne is live with more on how investigators tracked the man down. what can you tell us? >> derrick anderson was arraigned a short time ago. we were here as police walked to the magistrates office. can you tell us what you were doing inside of that woman's house? did you know she had a child at home? anderson did not respond to my questions although he was talking to officers as he tried to shield his face by turning it to the side there. police say they were able to identify the 21-year-old after they released surveillance of suspects wanted in connection with a home invasion assault. they say anderson was located in an abandoned vehicle that was parked in philly. police say anderson allegedly broke into a home and sexually assaulted her before she was able to fight him off. her young daughter was also home at the time of the attack. she has been charged with burglary as well as other charges. he is scheduled to be back before a judge again, december 6th. i'm pamela osborne, nbc 10 news. >> thank you. >>> police have identified the 14-year-old boy shot and killed in mayf
