speaker ryan: 2018 you say? the items in the two budgets cannot slip into 2018, because that's the way the system works. that means obamacare, we have to repair this broken system and replace it with a better law. that has to get done. we see the same thing with tax reforms. because there is also a deadline involved with this with the budget, so that has to get done. in the budget, we want to repair the defense of sequester. we call that the bca caps. that has got to get done. those things all have deadlines. they cannot slip. other things that do not have such time sensitivity can slip, but we hope to get it all done. we have mapped out a january through august strategy with the knowledge that we have the fall to fall back on in case something takes too much time or there are a lot of judges, i don't know, so i would really say that the fiscal economic issues are the pressing ones. in the early part of this year, we expect a supplemental from the white house on the border. so that will be attended to very quick

speaker ryan: so that leaked too. anna: basically an open meeting. speaker ryan: that is right. jake: this is going to impact people across the country. people want to know, is their mortgage deduction going away? companies want to know what their landscape looks like. speaker ryan: any tax plan is going to have lower rates, a broader base, and an upset lobby. lobbyists, special interests -- i was a chairman of the ways and means committee. i watched the system. they put in specific provisions that benefit a narrow group of interests. what that means is you have to raise taxes on everybody else more to make up for that. we have a tax code that basically says to all those people in america, send your money to washington, and if you engage in behavior that we specifically approved, we will let you keep some of it. that is killing our economy, strangling growth, putting us in the back of the pack internationally. we have to fix this. the people who lose a narrow part of specialized interest are going to fight hard to keep that. but it is at the expense of the general welfare of thi

ryan: questions? >> you want to talk about tax reform and health care, a variety of issues, voter fraud -- are you on the same page? mr. ryan: we are on the same hate with the white house and work with them to plan a bold and aggressive agenda and make good on the campaign promises, and to fix the problems, to fix and repair our broken health care systems and reform the tax go to get jobs and economic growth and clear up regulatory undergrowth -- underbrush to get growth going, we are on the same page as the administration and have worked with them to -- on a timetable on the legislative agenda we have. question] this will be an unconventional presidency. we will see unconventional active things like tweets and we have to get used to it. sen. mcconell: for myself, i do not react to daily comments, what the speaker has done which i concur with andy administration is on board with is to lay out a game plan before the august recess of what we want to accomplish. for myself, i intend to stick to a plan an

representative ryan: let me jump on that. we in the house respect the fact that they have a different system and it takes more time, and that they have additional responsibility as the majority leader just said, approving not just cabinet secretaries, judges, lower-level appointments, with 1200 i think altogether. our agenda is designed to incorporate that as well. that is something we've walked our members through so they can appreciate the difference between the house and senate. even with all of that, we have a very good agenda and timetable in store. you talked a lot about this plan and agenda. can you give us one specific deadline that you think congress will be able to reach on any of these issues? wall, is thate going to be offset? representative ryan: we don't want to set arbitrary deadlines. we want to get things right. we want to move quickly but get things right. there are statutory deadlines that we will have to deal with. april 28 is a pretty important deadline. those are the things that clearly are going to help

speaker ryan: let me say it this way. the premise of your question i would disagree with, casey, because obamacare is collapsing. remember, the base case that we are walking into in 2017 with this new government is we're staring at a health care law that said, if you look your plan you can keep it. that's not true. it said it would lower your premiums by $2,500, that's clearly not true. oh, and said your deductibles would be reasonable so you would be able to use your insurance. that's not true. oh, by the way, five states have one plan to choose from and we're being told they may lose that. oh, and 31% of the counties in america, one plan to choose from. political monopoly. that's not choices. so you have to remember the law is in what the actuaries tell us a death spiral. so we got to intervene to prevent this from getting worse. and so, yes, i do hope and believe that some of this can and should be bipartisan. but if people are going to be so partisan and so ideological to try and cling to the failure of obamacare, whi
