dan: thank you. charlie: let's begin there. terms of battle that are likely to continue indefinitely. size up those terms of battle. dan: well, it's an extension of the campaign that we went through, charlie, and i think that everything that has happened since the election through the transition and particularly in the opening weeks of the trump presidency have reinforced the divisions that we saw in the election. donald trump has come to washington to -- determined to shake it up. he promised that he would do that in the campaign. i'm not sure everybody took him as seriously as they should have but he's determined to do that in his opening weeks. all of his moves in part are designed to send the signals that he's going to keep the promises that he made in the campaign, that he's going to offend the base hit. without worrying about it, that he is going to be true to the people that he knows put him in office and that he's going to alarm a lot of people not just in this country but around the world, and one of the things we've s

dan: i think that is way down the line. some i was on the show, we talked about how there was a trump put in the market, and that is one thing supporting the market shares and even what people have started to question that, the market has started to make new highs. i think that sort of blissful ignorance goes on for several months before we get the details. there are three things driving this market here -- improving confidence, improving global growth, and the fiscal policy story. when you have all three of those stories, with all flat to improving, the markets have a lot of support. jonathan: is it a point is that small caps run about the same time the dollar did? dan: all of those postelection trades sort of went together that first month, and then they all sort of reverse course. in the asset class chart, the performance you had postelection through the first month has almost completely reversed in the months since. i think that is not specific to small-cap. i think it is all related. jonathan: beware think about it --

dan: yes. you know, the political side, pretend to focus on our own political setting, but the political setting in europe is much more confused now then it has been in many years, starting with brexit. theave the french election, situation in germany, and remember, your spread shows a widening between france and germany. there are some questions in germany know of all places, and then you look to the periphery and you see in the markets in relation to the calmness we have had, there is more dispersion now as the uncertainty grows, essentially about the strength of the european union and the cohesion staying together. hopeful thatm very the european union will strengthen, come together. i was very sorry to see what happened with the u.k. on the brexit vote. realistic ando be markets. you look at this and say, ok, i wish one thing but i had the other setting on my hands, so therefore, i will be cautious. a lot of people are doing that, including me. , will there be a lot more corporate issuance

dan is at the smart board with his call to action. dan? >> so, it's really a matter of whether you come in long the stock here. the stock has had this massive run. up 27% already on the year. at one point earlier in the week it was up 60% from the december 2nd lows. up about 50%. so you've had these ridiculous gains in a short period of time. we already know what the prior quarter's deliveries were. that's not a surprise. we do want to see about profitability and margins, any commentary about progress on their mass market model 3. these are all things investor also focus on. the last thing is capital raising. that's something we could see. if you have gains in the stock and they're short-term gains and fantastic, maybe consider a trade strategy called a collar, using options to protect stock holding. when would you use a collar? if you don't want to sell your stock but you're worried about short-term risk but want to protect to the down side but are willing to give upside to do that. that's the first thing. it's about short-term protection
