san jose to gilroy. gilroy to san jose the way most people are gowning. it looks good through morgan hill. sometimes when it rains we have closures but we don't see anything major here on the way to san jose along highway 101. i want to say that in oakland we have an injury accident on 980 heading out away from 24 toward jack london square. one of the right lanes has taken away. the fire and paramedics on the scenef. i were coming to work and this crash was there and it was slow it would throw my routine off. if you are coming down to jack london square there will be an unexpected slow down. also look agent the drive here in oakland on 880 the traffic is not bad. on the san mateo bridge it looks good. i want to mention something that we have -- we learned more about the pass. if you can put this map up. 580 westbound. there is road work at the pass. that is why some of the traffic is slow. couple that with no ace train service and you have a slow start to the already busy drive. >>> sal i felt like you were talking to me personallyf. i was going to leave

in gilroy. >>> we have a traffic alert in effect since around 4 a.m. it's westbound 152 after ferguson road. it's an overturned big rig on its sidecar rig 42,000 pounds of meat so as you can imagine, it will take a while to unload that meat out of the truck and get this cleared out. chp is on scene and they are saying that backup is to bloomfield or beyond. take bloomfield exit, take frazer lake road to get back on 152 beyond the crash and get past that backup there. there is no estimated time of re-opening just yet because caltrans is still on the way to the scene to get it cleared out so if this is part of your morning commute give yourself extra time 152 to 101 in san jose. south bay traveling times no problems. to the altamont pass, different story at just 10 miles per hour along the way so pretty slow conditions there. give yourself extra time to get through that traffic and if you are traveling into downtown san francisco a live look at the bay bridge toll plaza where the metering lights a

starting off in gilroy area. let's start there. northbound 101. freeway 101 looks okay from gilroy up into san jose through morgan hill as you drive through. there are no major problems on the gilroy drive. traffic is moving along okay. oneway traffic control. northbound lanes are closed but they are using the southbound lanes to do one way traffic control. this won't be very good for that drive obviously from santa cruz to los gatos. pam mentioned it, westbound 580 closures for emergency pot hole repair. the pot holes were so big they were causing flat tires. we have a huge back up already on the pass trying to get into livermore because of this problem. please give yourself extra time. let's talk about highway 4. bay point okay so far. little wet out here as you drive over to the willow pass grade. at the bay bridge toll plaza you can see traffic here is going to be okay. its light. there is wet weather. at 4:20. let's bring in mark. >>> hi. we have somewhat of a little bit of a break today. we can't do completely dry. santa rosa with light rain

there were some around gilroy. that is dry sloth right in there. salinas had gusts of 66 miles per hour. now the barometer is reporting that it is going up. east 28, east what is that 20 at fairfield. almost 30 at the napa airport. due east at oakland. high pressure inland, low pressure off the coast giving us that easterly component. for some gusts 40 to 50 miles per hour. 28 in truckee. there is snow being reported. precip at blue canyon. snow at south lake tahoe. we have a winter weather advisory out for the sierra. not much of a breeze yet but that may pick up later. it does go until tomorrow morning. about six to 12 inches of snow. the heavier snow is going to be south in the central and southern sierra and even down to southern california. you see this band rotating through. i think it will be with us through most of the morning and early afternoon. the low will eventually dig southward. the upper low is digging towards southern california. i don't think we're getting much of a break. maybe saturday afternoon. the next system is racing across

the wind is picking up around gilroy. santa clara and that gives us down sloping which may take away some of the rain. wet friday drive. wind advisory. heaviest rain to the south but everybody in on it. the strongest wind will be late morning. early afternoon and then start to taper off. the strongest wind in there as well. we have a wind advisory out with gusts 50 miles an hour. i think stronger gusts to the south. this is -- really strong system. it was in the shape of what we call a comma cloud. i haven't seen one of those in a long time. it's now arrived. there is going to be heavy rain down in southern california. that its what it looks like the deepest moisture is. this is also helped along by a really strong jet stream. that's helping enhance this. you get moderate to heavy bands. that's the dry area right there. because of that down sloping you get southeast wind and that's take away some of the available moisture. other areas have no problem getting the moisture here. especially around lake county back toward sai

let's start off with the gilroy drive and talk about northbound 101 as we drive from gilroy to san jose. most of this drive is okay. there have been some spots where there is standing water and have be closures between watsonville and gilroy. you may come up on those. 101 is doing okay. i want to mention some of the closures in the santa cruz mountains. a lot of them are still there including the one on highway 17 where you are down to one lane in each direction over the summit. getting in to the main part of the south bay isn't to bad but there will be some spots where you may come up on standing water. try not to drive into that. we have had a lot of people unfortunately who have had serious damage to their cars doing that. let's talk about interstate 880 north and south. it doesn't look bad. traffic is moving along nicely. if you are driving to the bay bridge it's not a bad drive into san francisco. it's -- leukemia it's raining a bit. >>> hit and miss. there is some coming down. others nothing. my ride in was dry. we are not completely done. we are going for home. we still have a wa
