there is also a nasa production facility in new orleans which has been hit. we have seen pictures of its giant vertical assembly building, the place where they used to build the giant external fuel tanks for the space shuttle and all of the exterior clapping on that building, basically ornamental cladding has been stripped away, there it is. that tall building in the center of the screen is supposed to be white, but all of the cladding has been pulled away, the building obviously is still standing, and nasa does a great job of making sure that its buildings can withstand the elements, but that is what has hit the nasa michoud plant. they are if you look on the far distance, the horizon they are, you two funnel clouds touching down, this in the new orleans area. very, very severe weather there. >> jenna: want to mention to our viewers who should be in that area, the tornado warning is in effect for the next 15 minutes or so, the advice from weather forecasters is to take shelter immediately. so this is still very much an ongoing situation as we get our first i

the crash happened just before six p-m in new orleans ... in the mid-city area during what's called the "krewe of endymion" parade. witnesses say a speeding truck lost control... crashing into two cars before plowing into a crowd of people... where it ended up hitting a dumpster. police say the driver of the truck appeared to be extremely intoxicated and one of their own officers was injured. police say he is being investigated for driving while intoxicated. officers say this was not an act of terrorism.this was not an act of terrorism. check kron4.com for the latest on this developing story. . >> reporter: this is new orleans east. they had up to two or three feet of water during hurricane katrina, and i cannot tell you how many people said to me this was worse than katrina in that they had so little time to get to a safe place. we're about to show you video that is incredible to watch when you consider the fury of mother nature and the fact that there were no major injuries. the first tornado hit at 10:00 in the morning and kept popping up and nailing this area for the next two hours. as nearly half dozen powerful tornadoes barreled through southeastern louisiana, people recorded the destruction as it happened. debris filled the air, and dangerous winds flipped and pushed what appears to be a trailer through a mall parking lot. surveillance footage shows the roof of a building blowing off and smashing into parked cars. in the background, an 18-wheeler is flipped on its side. a tornado that was at least an ef-2 with winds up to 135 miles per hour destroyed homes and knocked out power to thousands of people in th
