we have a globally recognized cybersecurity university. so we want to lay out an online education program to help the board of directors interact with the management, interact with the i.t. team because information, security, and data management and cybersecurity -- there was a case a couple years ago, the wyndham case. a bunch of class-action lawyers out there. there was a lot of learnings in that. the learnings were if the board takes precautions and is engaged on a regular basis, it becomes part of their risk assessment protocol inside the boards. it helps develop some immunity potentially in a very litigious and heavily regulated environment. >> let me ask you about the risk. a lot of companies are moving everything into the cloud. as they move into the cloud, they're moving on to one of three platforms, right. either amazon's platform, microsoft's platform, or google's platform. in the end, i could make an argument that these three companies are going to be responsible to some degree for the security of all of corporate america. these

cybersecurity was singled out as an expensive part of this. it is really an interesting story. -- if they ares going to take on such a snakes, wouldof it be chinese or japanese buyers? cory: there are thoughts korean companies could be interested.it is was be hard to get work in the u.s. for nuclear power points. there are a lot of companies who could be willing to take this on. as they encounter more problems, it is a tough business. when they acquired sony, it was disastrous. could we be waving goodbye to toshiba as a technology business? what more is there other than the memory chips? cory: fundamentally they have to figure out where the problems are. for them to make any decisions about what to sell and when, it is a requirement they have to figure out after they figure out how deep the problem is. the other problem is they not only made price guarantees but they made a grantee about the credit rating -- during key about the credit rating. if it is lower they would have to secure additional credit just to keep doing the work they are alrea

well, joining me now is dr daniel dresner, a cybersecurity academic at manchester university. how timely are both of these warnings? it is very timely. ijust submitted written evidence to parliament and i called this hour period of inevitable risk. so tim gave us the world wide web, it was designed for passing physics information between scientists, and now we are using it as a quick, cheap and easy way for our banking infrastructure, and a critical national infrastructure, our pensions and our day—to—day correspondence, some of which does not matter, but some of which is extremely important. where are the threats coming from? russia has been highlighted, although they deny they had anything to do with the hacking e—mails. had anything to do with the hacking e-mails. i do not think it is that important to be able to lay the blame on any one particular actor. there is any number of different motivations, especially at the political level. these attacks might even come from a local rivalry. good cyber hygiene for all, whether you area cyber hygiene for all, whether you are
