i'm andrea roane. after weeks of secrecy, senate republicans unveiled the health care plan minutes ago. it shuttles obamacare laws, and slashes taxes for the wealthy. democrats say it's even worse than the one put forth by the house. seth lemon has more from capitol hill. >> reporter: senate republicans are unveiling this bill to replace and repeal obama care. >> american families deserve better. it is a failing status quo. >> reporter: it illuminates the individual mandate forcing people to buy health insurance or pay a penalty and removes taxes put in place under the affordable care act. the bill will not cut medicaid as quickly as the house version and keeps protections for people with pre-existing conditions. it is called a discussion draft because they can make changes to get needed votes to pass. >> we need 50 plus votes. >> reporter: 50 some moderates oppose it and conservatives oppose subsidies that help people buy insurance. rand paul said 19% of the obamacare subsidies remained in the house b

good afternoon and thank you for joining us on wusa9 news at noon, i'm andrea roane. it's a partial win for the administration allowing aspects of the ban to take effect. the justices will hear arguments on the controversial ban at the start of the next term in october. it's one of be many decisions issued by the court this morning. weijia jiang reports from the supreme court. >> reporter: adjourned for the summer, but not beforehanding a victory to president donald trump. the high court announced they will review the president's travel ban on citizens from six muslim majority countries and it allows the trump administration to mostly enforce the president's executive order while the legal battle continues. the court would have only granted this if they would have allowed most of the travel ban to go in place if it thinks at this point without full briefing and argument the government is likely to succeed. >> reporter: the 90-day ban would apply to citizens of iran, libya, somalia, sudan, syria, and yemen. those people will not be allowed to come into the united state

>>> thank you for joining us on the news at noon, i'm andrea roane. the cleanup effort is underway after a confirmed ef0 tornado tore through sections of the storms wrath left trees down and homes damaged in bethesda, potomac and silver springs. wusa9's hilary lane gives us a look at a community where several homes have been left uninhabitable. >> walk along dennis avenue in silver spring with me. i want to show you some of the storm damage here after yesterday's tornado. take a look at this home, this one perhaps the most severely impacted in this area. crews have been busy all morning cleaning up all of the trees that have fallen down on this property. this enormous tree falling on top of the roof here is significantly damaging the top of this home, then another tree falling on top of the rv. then there are these power lines that came crashing down and are still down this morning. and this is not the only home impacted in the area walking along the street. you can see multiple homes that have some damage. there are trees down everywhere. residents t

. >>> hello and thank you for watching wusa9 news at noon, i'm andrea roane. a yellow weather alert tops our . some possibly strong ones on the radar. allyson. >> so right now we're just dealing with some showers. it's later on this afternoon and into the evening, some of these showers could start to develop and become even stronger into thunderstorms with pretty heavy rain associated with them. so right now just a few light showers along 95. these are just sprinkles if you will. taking the wider view, what we're going to be tracking is coming in from the west, from west virginia. it's going to slowly move on in here. during the afternoon and right through the evening, yellow weather alert not only because this is going interrupt your evening plans but also these are going to be pretty good storms with some soakers associated with them. time frame right now, we're watching these showers hang around. these storms will slowly develop through the afternoon when we start to heat up a little bit more. the critical time here is going to be 3 to 9:00. that's when the
