and sadly, they're more eye popping here in pennsylvania. and i hear it all the time from moms and dads who are faced with this issue. we have in--two facts about pennsylvania: we have the second-highest level of student debt in the country. now, there are lots of lists when you're a state that you want to be on, highest level of student debt is not one of 'em. and the other is that the mismatch between families' incomes, and you know, families have been struggling for many decades and really treading water, but meanwhile, higher education prices have gone up more than 274%. so there's this big mismatch. that would be, you know, we could look at that and say, "it's really unfortunate." but the trouble is, achieving higher education is vital for those kids to succeed in the economy, and for all of us to have a state worth living in. the number of jobs created since the end of the great recession has been about 11.6 million. eleven-point-five of them required a degree after high school. so if we don't equip our kids with some form of post-seco

pennsylvania's home to nearly a million. the majority of veterans return to our communities as leaders and lead exemplary lives. however, not every veteran's path is straightforward. that is why we need to make sure the right programs and support are in place. according to the department of justice in 2011-2012, approximately 8% of the total incarcerated population of the u.s. were, in fact, veterans. these veterans found themselves serving time in correctional facilities because they had not received the treatment that they needed. while this represents a small, very small percentage of veterans, it's important that we support programs like veterans' treatment courts. for veterans who face significant obstacles returning to civilian life, including mental health concerns, post-traumatic stress disorder or substance abuse issues. these treatment courts can have lifelong impact on a veteran by helping them get out of the criminal justice system and get the necessary treatment that they have earned. it's our obligation to work

the pennsylvania supreme court just ruled that you do have more availability of seeing it. of course, police pushed back. they voted against it and begged that not to happen, but a 5-2 majority ruled against them. now police will have the burden to prove why it should not be released. is this a win for the public in an effort to have, you know, more transparency with police actions, or is it a loss for the ability for police to do their job the right way? >> well, taxpayers are paying for this, and so they ought to have access to these tapes that are being produced at their expense. the court ruling on it did not actually give a broad access to the public. what is said was there's a presumption that they have access, but the police are free to raise, on a case-by-case basis, objections to why the tapes should not be released. so that seemed like, to me, a reasonable compromise. >> okay. is it a win for the public, or do you think, in the end, it hurts policing? >> well, i think jan made these awfully important points that i won't bother to repeat, but i think the one thing
