alexis? >>> it is a spare the air day. once again, if you can car-pool, can use mass transit, that is highly recommended. taking you up to the north bay looking at some of the fire-related closures, 101 is fully open in both directions but we do have on and off ramps closed. hopper, bicentennial, you will not be able to use those exits so just keep that in mind that heavy law enforcement presence in the area there as well and then take a look at golden gate bridge. very light volumes this early hour. i'm not seeing too much smoke and haze. enjoy it while it lasts. we will likely have some issues as we get further into the day. starting to see things ramp up out of the central valley. that's up next. >>> alexis, thank you. now back to the north bay fires still raging this morning. containment is growing. the nuns fire in sonoma county now 40% contained. that fire has burned more than 48,000 acres. >> cal fire reports increased containment on the fires in lake and mendocino counties. meanwhile,

alexis? >> okay. back out to the livermore area, westbound 580 around vasco road where we have reports after disabled vehicle. and some calls into chp that someone was out of the vehicle dancing in the middle of the roadway. we have a high wind advisory through that stretch. no delays southbound 680 to mission boulevard and we do have abc 7's janine de la vega on the roads this morning. we have yet another crash. >> reporter: alexis, it is causing quite a mess. the roads here are still wet and you can see behind me the expressway and branham lane is being locked up. you can see it's because of a crash that happened here and a truck hit the light pole. crews are out here and they're trying to repair the light polls. a tow truck driver crashed and he told police that he lost control in the rain. that was the case in dublin as well. another tow truck crashed on westbound 580 near the dublin/pleasanton station. debris flew onto the b.a.r.t. tracks and crews had to come in and clear the tracks. while the r

alexis? >>> taking a look at one of many closures that we still have in the north bay due to the fires. 101 in santa rosa. all those on and off ramps continue to be closed. mendocino river road, also airport drive is closed. off of 101. so just be aware of that. tough to get through there. we do have three left lanes just before you get to the harrison exit. scheduled until 5:30 for bridge maintenance. looks like they may be wrapping that up early. we'll take a look at drive times up next. >> and here are the latest numbers on the fires that continue to burn this morning in the north bay. >> containment has grown in nearly all the major fires including lake and mendocino counties. the 48,000 nuns fire is now 40% contained. >> cal fire expects full containment by friday. mandatory evacuations have been lifted in three more areas including calistoga. several schools reopened today for the first time since the fires and the number of people killed statewide is at 40. one of the areas of concern.

alexis and i will keep an eye on it. here's a look from our roof camera where we had about a third of an inch. low to mid-50s this morning. a chill in the air at noon but sunshine. a few more clouds this afternoon, a little breezy. 57 to 63 and breezy but dry this evening, 53 to 57. more on your commute. >>> a lot of crashes overnight. this was a crash involving a tow truck happened about 1:00 this morning east of hopyard. part went through the fence and on to the bat track. b.a.r.t. crews got there almost immediately and started cleaning things up. minor damage there. they briefly had to single track. that happened early enough in the morning and overnight hours that they really didn't have any delays here this morning. that certainly is good news here today and that crash is no longer blocking the roadway either. >> a quick check outside. in the south bay a little bit of the road spray kicking up. probably going to have to put those wipers on at some point those wipers on at some point this morning. you're in the green

i want to start with alexis. you've been tracking this issue since 4:30 this morning. >> we have a sig alert on the peninsula. sky 7 just arriving to the scene here southbound 101 at wood side road. all traffic being forced off between whipple to wood side where you can get back on the freeway. we're not seeing any huge delays yet. i think we'll getter better idea once we can see how much after backup we have. it's less than a mile but you can see traffic flowing on the northbound side. southbound side there's flashing lights and no other traffic allowed. this started at 3:15 this morning. we are hearing from chp it was one of their patrol vehicles, a solo vehicle collision. there we go, you can see the flares, where everyone is being forced off onto the whipple exit. as they pan back for us you can see it's not a massive delay, for another 30 minutes. in an hour or so we'll see pretty long distances that you will have to sit in a backup. for now it's not terrible. stick to el camino real or 280 to avoid complete

hi, alexis. >>> good morning. unfortunately we do have a sig alert on the roads in the castro valley area. i want to teak 7 and it looks like we have some flashing lights down there on the eastbound side of 580. this is all due to a semi fire that started about 5:35. that's when we got the first call in to chp. it really looks like the cab of that semi is totally charred. we haven't gotten word of any injuries. i do believe the driver got out okay. we have a fuel spill, though. it sounds like the fuel lines just totally melted with that fire. so emergency crews still on the scene there taking up the two right lanes and as sky 7 pans back for us you can see we have a pretty healthy backup. if this were westbound it would be major traffic alert. right now we're looking at about a three-mile delay on eastbound 580. we're seeing some backups on the westbound side of 580. not quite as heavy or long as backup. some folks slowing down to see what's going on. a new problem in fairfield. westbound 80 just past the state ro

traffic reporter alexis smith joining us now. you've been following this since hours ago. >> yeah, happened a little bit after 8:00 this morning. we're looking at pictures from the scene right now. this happened on westbound highway 4 in pittsburgh. right at railroad avenue. you can see one of those vehicles flipped over and this was a fatal crash. so one person did not survive, another was helicoptered out there with medevac. so obviously serious injuries involved in this as well. and then here's a look at things from sky 7 who flew over the scene a couple hours ago. it was a major clean-up process. they had six to seven vehicles involved in this crash. i did just get an update from chp, and things are starting to look better as far as traffic is concerned. just a couple moments ago, all lanes reopened in pittsburgh at railroad avenue. that sig-alert cancelled. again this just happened right as i was walking up here. using our distance-measuring tool, about a three mile back-up that should thin out quickly. if you want to head n
