after that it does look okay from santa rosa to petaluma. there's not been much of a commute in this area as people have been asked to stay off the roads and people have been doing that. traffic has been very light. highway 128 in and out of calistoga is still closed northwest of calistoga and highway 128 in the lake areas that area is still closed for fire at city. let's move to the commute on 580 westbound, altamont pass. traffic is a little slow after 205 toward livermore. more traffic -- no major traffics on interstate 880 and in the east bay can you. highway 24 has opened. we had some trouble overnight in the caldecott tunnel. all the tunnels are open. the westbound bay bridge, traffic is light with a few lanes a little congested. >>> we do have a better smoke advisory forecast compared to the last couple of days. the wind has tailed off. temperatures are colder. yesterday, we had very unhealthy levels. this make it worse again tomorrow because the breeze will pick up. cool, clear, hazy and 30s and 40s on the temperatures. breezy evenin

it's just outside of petaluma. the coast guard members came out. these are people going through the cooking school that the coast guard has out there. and at that cooking school, they learn how to take their skills back to their bases when they get their assignments. these men and women haven't even gone through cooking school yet. they just started. and here they are getting some on-the-job training cooking dinners on their own time for these evacuees here. we talked to the master chief petty officer who is also a volunteer about why they came out. >> some of us are most affected by it want to help out . rice, beans and chickens with lovely tomato sauce and a salad and we are making what we call a dump cake. it's an old boy scout camp trick. we take fruit and cake mix and adding to together. the kids will love it. >> reporter: you know, that sense of urgency with the firefighters out there on the front lines, battling the fires. you almost get the sense that there's that same type of feeling here from the volunteers that they really want to do eve
