look, let's say this, at most, and this is the sarah sanders argument, at most what the 2016 election proved was the allegations against donald trump as well as kmejcomments on "acc hollywood" were not determinative in the vote. that people factored it in and decided to choose other things, change most notably. what it doesn't prove at all and what sarah sanders seems to say a lie that it proves that donald trump is innocent of these charges or that the charges have somehow been litigated and donald trump found not guilty by the people of the country. will is no exit poll question on that. there is no way to possibly draw that conclusion. now, they can say these were allegations, they were out there and donald trump won. 100% true. what you can't say these are spur russ because donald trump won. >> which is what she was mentioning to me when she was listening. >> yeah. he won the electorate. lost the popular vote by 3,000 votes. in addition to say to say the allegations are spur russ because he won the electoral argument are ridiculous. besides that, he is on a tape saying that he can

sarah sanders makes a point. she said, look, the president's been elected, we need to move on. but, in the case of kirsten gillibrand, for example, she came out the other week and said that bill clinton should have resigned or been impeached. now you have her saying what's good for clinton is good for trump. so it's a different kind of conversation we're having right now. and the more this gets in the ether, after harvey weinstein, i think the more questions are going to be raised about donald trump's past history here. >> you know, david chalian, listen to what senator kristin gillibrand, the democrat from new york, told our christiane amanpour earlier today. >> president trump should resign. these allegations are credible. they are numerous. i've heard these women's testimony and many of them are heartbreaking. and president trump should resign his position. >> pretty strong words. others calling, similar calls, bernie sanders, jeff merkley. is this political posturing or is there a serious congressional investigation, is that at all possible? >> not while republicans are in

. >> we just heard there from sarah sanders. being a volunteer for a campaign doesn't necessarily equate to being di connected from it. put into context papadopoulos role in all of this. >> when sarah sanders says he was a volunteer for the campaign, i think she is trying to give people the idea that he was some kind of youngster that came in and answered phones or went door-to-door handing out leaflets because i think what a lot of americans think of when they hear the words campaign volunteer. let's keep in mind that paul manafort, who was trump's campaign chairman could have been considered a volunteer because he did that position unpaid and he volunteered his services unpaid. it's clear he thought he was going to get something else out of it, of course. so calling this guy a volunteer, i think, is misleading at best. it's clear that he had a lot to do with the campaign. you see him as you pictured him in meetings with the trump foreign policy team, pretty close to jeff sessions who was the head of then trump's foreign policy

here's sarah sanders late today. >> look, the president knew that he lied to the vice president. that was the reason for his firing. >> the problem is, that is not at all what the president tweeted four days ago when he fired off this tweet. quote, i had to fire general flynn because he lied to the vice president and the fbi. the white house has made it very clear, president trump's tweets are, quote, official statements by the president of the united states. no matter who might draft, tweak, or actually type them. in this case, lawyer john dowd, the first person ever to take the blame for a presidential tweet. trump's tweet and sarah sanders' explanation simply are not the same. they contradict each other. they also don't match cnn's reporting. a source telling cnn that white house counsel don mcgahn told the president in february that flynn lied to the fbi and misled pence. pence ran the presidential transition team. we know pence was aware that flynn had contacted russia. but for a year now, pence has insisted that he didn't know flynn and the russian ambassador discussed u.s.

white house press secretary sarah sanders also added this. she said it took place a long time before he was elected. with sexual harassment allegations stirring a national reckoning, three of president trump's accusers joined together today saying the man in the oval office should also be held accountable. >> i ask that congress put aside their party affiliations and investigate mr. trump's history of sexual misconduct. >> reporter: at least 15 women have come forward with accusations ranging from sexual harassment and misconduct to sexual assault. including unwanted kissing and groping. >> in some areas of our society, people are being held accountable for unwanted behavior, but we are not holding our president accountable for what he is and who he is. >> reporter: all of the alleged incidents took place before mr. trump won the white house. on the campaign trail and since he has denied the allegations. >> the events never happened. never. all of these liars will be sued after the election. >> reporter: he never followed through on that thre

sarah sanders reiterated today from the white house podium. and one of the main complicating factors, according to cnn's reporting, was that there was concern that it was too risky for the president to weigh in, since he, himself, has been accused of sexual misconduct by at least a dozen women. so trying to thread the needle, here's what sarah sanders said on november 11th, right after those accusations against moore started coming out. >> the president believes that we cannot allow a mere allegation, in this case, one from many years ago, to destroy a person's life. however, the president also believes that if these allegations are true, judge moore will do the right thing and step aside. >> at the time, the president was in asia. sanders said he would remain focused on that trip. but then there was that tweak in the message, five days after first commenting on it, the white house started using a different law and repeating it over multiple days. >> the president believes this is a decision for the people of alabama to make. the people of ala

to me what sarah sanders is saying is these women were heard. they should be heard and they were heard before the election and voters rendered judgment is what is implicit in that. sarah sanders is saying it much more explicitly. senator scott said that as well. if there is something to litigate here still we should do that. but i think that the way the president has moved forward defending himself against these allegations has been much more defiant, different, more successful than others. but it doesn't mean that he's not going to face a renewed threat because of it. but i don't think that nikki haley is taking a great step forward here. >> so this weekend you heard this mini ground swell of democrats starting to say, well, the president should resign. here's senator jeff murkley on that. at least 17 women have accused donald trump ol' sexual misconduct, and i believe them. he has bragged on television. i disagree with him on many things. but this is not about that. it seems as though with al franken's resignation, this gives them now license
