and according to karen, again karen will be along with the situation on the roads shortly. as we take a look at temperatures right now in philadelphia still holding above the freezing mark by a couple degrees. same thing in trenton. 33 in wilmington but it's the freezing mark or below in those northern and western suburbs where roads could be particularly slippery but even in the i-95 corridor there is the chance of that. as we go through the days, i want to point out that we probably stay close to the freezing mark most of the day. i actually think we have a shot at bouncing up to about 34 briefly around lunchtime and then right back down to the freezing mark and maybe even the upper 20's. so, karen a little slippery out there right now but even after the precipitation ends at eight, 10 o'clock this morning, there could still be some icy patches developing with these numbers. >> i think one of the problems we're seeing, dave, is some people driving along and thinking, oh, it just looks wet we're moving okay but the temperatures have just dropped and you're get something sl

good morning to you karen, good morning, everybody. with the really wet conditions, we didn't have a lot of overnight construction but they were working here on the schuylkill expressway. because where they work just up ahead is underneath 30th street station. it's covered so they can still work in the rain. but they're not working anymore. they have reopened the eastbound lanes here by the vine expressway and 30th street. you're good to go in both directions. crews will return, though, tonight around 9 o'clock. otherwise on the big picture wet conditions but no overnight work and speeds look pretty good. we have that fire location in west philadelphia that jeanette is going to tell you more about in just a bit. it's hazel avenue at 58th street. i would use larchwood and 60th as alternates and for our friends coming from lancaster county this morning there's a truck fire on the pennsylvania turnpike eastbound by the bow man'sville service plaza. watch out for restriction there is on the off ramp to the service plaza. elsewhere on the t

david and karen lots of schools on a delay or closing today. philadelphia not among them right now but we'll keep checking. >> the problem isn't really driving on the main roads. the problem is walking today i think. >> yeah, walking on the sidewalks, walking to your car and wait until you get a load of the thick ice on your windshield in some neighborhoods. use caution for the morning rush. we still have lingering slick spots. the big issues are the driveways, the parking lots, the sidewalks. some side streets mights be icy and even in places where you salted last night you might find that the impact of the ice was so significant that you still have a freeze-up. icy sidewalks and icy windshields combine to make it not a great morning walk for the kids to the bus stop. 31 degrees by 6:00 a.m., 32 by 8:00 a.m. so the ice probably doesn't break up much between that time period and i mentioned icy windshields because sometimes people just make a little hole and they try and drive like that makes it harder to see kids entering and exiting the stree

karen what you got on the roads this morning. >> well, it's dry today. we have a lot of traffic problems nonetheless. it's because of the cold weather we're seeing all these water main breaks. this is the latest one. look how busy it's starting to get in cherry hill on 70 eastbound. that's our breaking news and the action cam is live on the scene showing us they've got the cones set up. you see police there and as the action cam kind of pans the road you can see the left lane is blocked on 70 eastbound. and this is just past kings highway. so, you know it's a busy area in cherry hill. and the problem is of course we've got water with these temperatures you've got ice, so there you can see the ice on the roads. looks like they've been trying to lay sand down because of it. so the left lane is blocked 70 eastbound with this water mainan cherry hill. and now that volume's building we're seeing more traffic through this area and that left lane remaining blocked with ice. here's another problem that we've been dealing with. balligomingo road near front street

karen will talk more about that in a moment. still 34 in trenton. well above freezing in millville and down through the heart of delaware toward dover and those places you're still looking at rain. we're going to see temperatures drop closer to the freezing mark for most of the afternoon. i can see this coming up maybe a couple degrees above freezing around noon but then probably sliding back into the low 30's or upper 20's later in the day. so this is one of those days where the precipitation is probably going to be over fairly quickly after the rush hour. but anything that hasn't been treated and doesn't completely dry out could freeze up again in these areas and by the way that winter weather advisory is still in place. it will gradually be expiring probably between about 7 o'clock and noon depending on where you are. it's a warning up in the poconos where things are a little bit worse. karen rogers are we seeing any issues on roads yet. >> we're seeing a few issues on the roads. as we look live this is bucks county and you can see the snowfall c

thank you, karen. new dashcam video shows a connecticut state trooper using his vehicle to stop a wrong way driver. it happened along i-95 in stamford early yesterday morning. neither the trooper nor the driver was injured in the crash. police say the driver admitted to drinking and told troopers she actually thought she was in new jersey. >> now to a story so awful it's hard to believe that it could actually be true. police in california discovered 13 siblings held captive in filthy conditions so under fed that even the adults looked like children. a 17-year-old girl managed to get free with a cell phone calling police to this perris, california home. officials found the 13 chained up and padlocked to their bed. they were shockingly thin and kept in their own filth. their pants david and louise turpin have been arrested. police were so disturbed to find that seven of the captives were actually adults between 18 and 29 but they are so starved shrunken and emaciated they look like far younger children.

karen? >> oh, without a doubt. jenny, thank you so much. 5:04. developing right now, we had a shooting in the middle of center city last night. really busy area. one person was hit. it happened right in front of the wendy's over at 15th and chestnut street. police say there was a gunman who fired off six shots before running away. there was a 24 year old man shot in the wrist. he ran three blocks to the apple store at 16th and walnut where he flacked down a police officer who returned him to the hospital. >> he's only hit one time in the wrist. and there were six shots fired. so we're really not certain at this time whether or not he was the intended target. because the victim himself is state that he heard gunshots, hen realized he was shot. and we were asking him additional questions, and at this time he's being somewhat uncooperative. >> so, obviously, that's an area where there is a lot of surveillance cameras there, combing through them, hoping to find more information about a suspect.
