(j.r.)it happened around three a.m. this morning. fotunately no one was here and no one was hurt but it appears these thieves knew exactly what they were going after.tonight you can see the handyman who was busy at work installing new locks on this door to rite aid. sources tell us this burglary went down around three a.m this morning. they went on to say that the thieves took thousands in cash from the atm machine inside and the store safe. they broke into the pharmacy as well and stole perscription drugs. sources say it appears they even cut security wires here. police say no arrests have been made in the case. some customers we spoke with this evening were shocked. others said it just sounds too easy. like the bad guys knew the place too well.

(gabe) four people, including two children, were injured in a collision involving an alleged stolen truck that crashed into another vehicle in antioch this afternoon, sheriff's officials said. at 12:47 p.m., the contra costa county sheriff's office received a report of a stolen vehicle in pittsburg and a sheriff's deputy spotted the ford f-250 shortly afterward on bailey road. the deputy followed the truck as it headed east on state highway 4 but did not initially activate the emergency lights on his vehicle. however, as the suspect took the off-ramp to somersville road, he allegedly accelerated quickly, prompting the deputy to then activate his emergency lights, sheriff's officials said. moments later, the truck went thr

(steve) and im steve aveson. chief meteorologist is standing by with a wrap of what we saw today... and what we will see moving forward. lawrence karnow: we enjoyed a day of unusual weather with sunshine, heavy downpours, rainbows, hail and lightning. you can see the storms rotating into the bay area with isolated thunderstorms popping up. if you get caught under one of those storms the rain can come down very hard. the showers will decrease through the night and then we can expect partly cloudy skies. more than a foot of snow has fallen across the higher peaks in the sierra and skiers are going to love the fresh powder. on the satellite you can see the cold clouds and showers moving across the state. they should wind down as the sun sets. high pressure will then begin building in to bring dry but cool weather on friday and partly cloudy skies. it should be a nice weekend after some patchy morning fog. we should see plenty of sunshine and warmer temperatures. monday looks nice and then a few clouds return on tuesday before more sunshine and offshore winds bring fair weather until th

(steve) good evening... im steve aveson...(catherine) and im catherine heenan. 22-year-old mohammed abraar ali was allegedly driving the car that slammed into a police cruiser... killing officer andrew cammilleri on christmas eve. kron4's maureen kelly says court records show new details on what led up to the accident.. he was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana was in his systemaccording to his arrest warrent 22 year old mohammed abraar ali admitted to investigators to not only knowing he was impaired that night, but that he should of pulled over at least three times on his drive from manteca, but instead chose to stay behind the wheel. preliminary black box analysis shows that that ali's red cadillac had been speeding approximently 120 miles per hour before rearending the chp patrol car. witnesses told investigators that the driver of that luxury vehilce had also been seen agressively weaving thru traffic before the collision on southbound 880 near 92. that's according to the arrest warrent of 22 year old mohammed a

(steve) (2shot) and i'm steve aveson. the flu seems to be hitting especially hard in santa clara county amid a sharp increase in traffic to emergency rooms. as kron four's rob fladeboe reports now, health officials are sounding the alarm. the number of people seeking care for flu-like symptoms at santa clara county emergency rooms like this one at valley medical center is up25 percent in the past week alone. of the seven flu related deaths of people under age 65 reported in the greater bay area so far, five have have been reported here in santa clara county. none of the five had beenvaccinated but unlike the other four, this latest victim had not been suffering from an underlying health problem. flu season is early this year and all signs point to a more severe flu season say health officialswho are urging people to take every precaution they can to avoid theflu.dr. jeffrey leinen/valley medical center "...if you are young and under the age of two, elderly or have significant health problems and you think you have the flu
