i am so honored to be here for the third opening of helen diller park. i still remember when ph phil ginsburg and trust republic land came to my office with the original plans on what we could do to transform the original area. and i had never seen a design to innovative and whimsical, as well. i'm sure many of our adults will be wanting to play on these structures, as well, joining their childrens, in quotation marks. i think it's amazing that we're able to do something so innovative and amazing in san francisco. i represent a district with the smallest number of parks in san francisco. i also want to acknowledge our residents who have pushed us to prioritize parks and open spaces in our district. i see pat zamora from the boys and girls club, and it is really our residents who have taken the initiative to say we want to rhenvate bodecker park and make it a true oasis for our families and our seniors, and we accomplished that with the trust for public land, thanks inform phil2k3w i gin-- phil ginser and mayor ed lee. we are going to make district six th

[applause]. >> when i open up the paper every day i'm just amazed at how many different environmental issues keep popping up. when i think about the planet i want to leave for my children and other generation, i think of what contribution i can make on a personal level to the environment. ♪ clean power sf is san francisco's key way of fighting climate change by renewable energy and offering it to san francisco customers. i'm from the san francisco public utilities commission. the program came about with state wide legislation in 2002 to enable people to take more control over supplies. i first heard of the program when the organization was advocating to launch clean power sf. what i'm most excited about, it's going to bring 100% renewable energy to my home and reinvest into renewable energy infrastructure and jobs. i had gone to a lot of street fairs and heard from the staff at the san francisco public utilities commission to sign up for clean power sf even before it launched. >> we

[applause]. ♪ >> not only did the total death on our streets from traffic collisions decrease dramatically in 2017, pedestrian deaths did as well. since 2013, fewer pedestrians have been killed on our streets. this is really good news. you know, no one wants to see the accidents on the side of the road, no one wants to experience going to a crime scene on the road knowing your loved one has been hit by a car or sadly tragically killed. this is about bringing that number of 20 from 2017 down to zero. we don't want another death on our streets because of human error, because of anything that we can avoid. if we change our behavior, we change our roads and we do a better job here in the city and county of san francisco. >> my ask of the public, number one be aware of your surrounding, be aware of the law, be aware of the street signals and crosswalks and try to work within the laws designed to keep you safe. look at where we were and look at where we are. this vision will be a reality.

this is the third city play grounds renovated through the helen diller family foundation. the two were predecessors to this one. it is one of several projects we partnered on with hays valley, balboa park and hill tom and the relake ship goes back farther with the partnership projects. buchanan mall is another one we are working on with gpl. we were in district 6 yesterday and we were joined by three amazing kids who spent a lot of time at bodecker and are involved in the boys and girls club. the city invested more than $30 million in the park improvement this is the last several years including not just civic center, south park and we have upcoming work at the sergeant mccoy playground and the mini park. they were opened in honor of may your lee. i was -- mayor lee. i was with them when we showed him the design. he was so excited but he said when he looked at it, he said this looks amazing. what if there were some lights. that embarked a very ambitious lighting element to these playgrounds which you saw part of last night. the big piece of it went on about 10 minutes afte
