lisa: i told you i am short btp's. jonathan: so you're hoping it is a german who takes the top spot? lisa: i think that may be the case. it is a selloff environment for european bond yields that have been anchored by the ecb program, by low rates, etc. it is a totally different set of members as well. it is a different cast of characters, so we are looking forward and we are trying to make expectations based on what they are telling us. it is a whole different fed this year and it could be a whole different ecb next year. jonathan: kevin, let's think about it. you are at the bloomberg terminal one morning and the headline says he is the next president. do you react to that, should you respond to that? kevin: not immediately but i think there may be a shift in focus. much like it has been a pro-usa or pro-america focus since donald trump was elected, that maybe there is a pro-german focus within the ecb or within the european union. that could be to the detriment of some other countries. jonathan: could you imagine the

lisa: thank you. emerging markets have remained solid during and after last week's selloff, but is the emerging-market bet still a good one or is it coming to an end? i am fascinated i this chart. this is the chart of the day in my opinion. it shows investors are earning no extra yield to own high emerging-market debt relative to u.s. high-yield corporate debt. you are getting paid nothing extra to go into risky emerging markets versus risky u.s. companies. to discuss all of this is the ubs had of global emerging strategist and said haidar. i want to start with you, what do you make of the fact they are not getting anything extra anymore to own emerging-market high-yield debt. is this a signal going into the u.s. and leaving emerging markets? >> no, i do not think so. my focus is mainly equities and there's no doubt emerging-market debt has performed well. one of the interesting things about the big correction in equities over a couple of weeks ago, 10% drop in the u.s. and em, was have relatively wel

lisa you couldn't have said it lisa you couldn't have said it : better than that. jonathan: it feels like the japanese are trying to nationalize the bond market. when you think about it that way, past resistance of the yields is indeed higher, but how much higher if the bank of japan is going to keep a lid on every thing that happens there? lisa: that is a fair point but one of the biggest distortions is because of purchases is in credit markets rather than an treasuries. guessing tremendous amounts of overseas buying, 45% of the u.s. corporate market today is overseas versus 25% 10 years ago. we have seen -- the distortions are coming through risk assets more so at this point that through rate markets. kevin i think it is a great : point that she is making. it has been the best trade in the sovereign marketplace for a while now, buying treasuries. will that trade still be good now that italy is facing inflationary pressures? some of these other european countries are seeing inflationary pressures. does it make it a value back to other sovereign debt? that is somet

jonathan: lisa, your thoughts? do you want to be short in italy or spain? lisa: definitely short. there is an election coming, and before the french election french yields sold materially, i think the market is forgetting about that. i think italy has not participated in the selloff in rates the last few weeks. this is it a market that is materially mispriced. jonathan: mispriced by how much? the reason i ask is the timing for the trade. is this something that is going to have more sustainable upside? yields higher and yields higher again. lisa: i can't make a promise, i think it is a structural trade. if you look at the dependency ratios in italy and the demographic issues that italy is facing over the next several years, it is not a pretty story. i think it is more structural. in the near-term with the come to terms that the ecb has been buying the net debt in europe, and are stepping away from that market. jonathan: eric, you talked about how you would be willing to short japan. would you be willing to short italy? eric: we have had short positions going back to 2005 and 2006 w

: it's lisa boothe. as were learning about how it was obtained, how central in your estimation is the dossier in the entirety of the russian investigation itself? >> i think i kind of want to reserve my thoughts on that until i read the entire memo. but based on the information we been able to learn so far, it played a role in a part in obtaining a warrant and fbi deputy director andrew mccabe testified behind closed doors to the house intelligence committee that if they didn't have the dossier, they would not have been able to secure at least one warrant. i don't know if it applies in other situations. what also has my attention is that in the fall of 2016, fusion gps and christopher steele were busy briefing major american media organizations about the dossier. the vast majority did not run with it. but some reports were made, but it was an effort to sort of see the story line if you will. at the same time the information was being provided to the fbi. i was reporting last hour in people and the commit

lisa: what about emerging markets? chris: emerging markets, still it is harder about emerging markets are showing real growth, and you need to know -- own a little bit of emerging-market debt. instead of having trouble they are beginning to service in the correct way. that is one area of debt that looks good. julia: what we have seen is volatility and a more volatile environment. do you think we continue to see that in 2018, to go back to where we started, how do you make sure you have the benefit of appreciation go forward if we see a? chris: the way to play it is to rotate into those areas that are cheaper. it is wonderful to have the google and netflix and facebook, but it is time to take some of that off of the table. that is the most all agility. those stocks get hurt the most. it is best to rotate in the areas where you are getting great dividend yields. verizon, at&t, those are areas i think will reward you as you see the year go on. lisa: one big question that many have is when are investors going to start goin

here's meteorologist lisa argen. she is tracking doppler 7 for us. >> good morning to you. you can probably feel the mild air with us. had to open some window last night because it really didn't cool off too much in some areas. here's live doppler 7 where we are clear. in the south bay numbers range from the mid 50s in san jose, 6 in santa clara. mountain view in the low 60s. closer to the bay, 55 alameda. and 53 bodega bay. we are looking at very mild number compared to yesterday inland and on the coast. but we did have some cooling in the north bay. your forecast today though calls for temperatures to climb quickly. through the 50s by the early morning hours. by noontime we are well into the 60s. and 4:00 this afternoon, record highs once again with mid and upper 70s on tap. upper elevation winds will be breezy again. and evening hours, wow n the 60s. we'll let you know how long this trend is going to last and have a look at the rest of your weekend coming up. chris? >> lisa, thank you. >>> developing news out of p
