a san mateo man came down with the flu and passed away within days. tonight his wife sharing with us their story to help other people. sergio quintana at the san mateo medical center with the details. >> reporter: charley cody was rushed here to the emergency room at the san mateo medical center and his wife tells me doctors were able to treat him for a short time before they told her he wasn't going to make it. juliet said her husband was a big guy with a big personality. on christmas day he started coughing and his symptoms got really bad. >> he was dehydrated i kept bringing him juice and he would drink it and go back to sleep. >> three days after getting sick he took a turn for the worse. >> i thought he had a stroke, that's what i called. i called an ambulance. >> reporter: he was rushed to the emergency room and died that night. he is one of the 127 deadly flu cases this year. cody was 54 years old. >> we've had a busy, bad bad flu season that started around christmas time. >> reporter: it started across the bay area. at john muir they're seeing
