frank mallicoat is in emeryville checking on the conditions.>> reporter: it is wet, cold and windy. those are the three words that sum up the commute. a lot of people listen to it yesterday because a lot of folks got a jump on the commute this morning starting early to beat the rain and it is pretty clogged up looking at highway 80 at the base of emeryville as people are working into the city. all of this rain and a tough commute has caused accidents. the big one actually happened earlier this morning. this is southbound 880 at 1:40 this morning. a big rig jackknifed and a car was stuck underneath. there were some injuries shutting down 880 ford over two hours. this is a stark reminder to slow down. i spoke with some drivers in emeryville and they say the morning commute has been very difficult and dangerous.>> on the road it is dangerous and treacherous. people are not driving safely. >> where have you been driving from? smoke from past vallejo on my way to sfo. highway 80 is very slick and fast so be safe. >> do you think people got up early because of the rain? >> yes, it is real
