we begin tonight with kathy orr who will time this out for us. kathy. >> iain we're talking about a one-two punch with this storm. this is going to develop into a major winter storm. this one is a nor'easter unlike the other storm last week but nevertheless another powerful storm. now, this is the beginning the genesis of the storm. the primary low right now over the northern plains with blizzard conditions and winter storm warnings for those folks. we'll watch this area of low pressure redevelop off the coast of the mid atlantic and then sip up the eastern seaboard. because it's going to be a little bit farther to the south than the last storm it will have longer to travel and that means more moisture to gather. as it continues to pull down the cold air, it will be changing that rain over to snow during the day on wednesday. wednesday is the day to change any type of travel plans a great day to stay inside. so let's go hour by hour with this fox future cast. we'll take from it the current time through tuesday night. when the clouds will move in

let's get out to kathy orr and kathy it is coming down out there. >> pouring rain iain this is classic setup for major east coast storm. typically we associate it with massive snow not the case this time. this is the primary low transferring energy off the coast to the coastal low but the problems going to be how much moisture is left when the cold air moves in. not really a problem but that's going going to be the question. take a look at this flood watch from philadelphia county even in south jersey toward the north and east where we do expect at least one to 2-inches of rain ponding on area roads and some problems with our rivers and streams over the next couple of days. so tonight through tomorrow, rain, some wet snow moving in tomorrow morning with the colder air. friday afternoon through the evening, damaging winds in excess of 50 even 60 the shore and friday afternoon into the evening into saturday morning coastal concerns especially at times of high tide. we're talking about potential for property damage down the shore and of course beach erosion and flooding as well. so what a

let's get back to kathy kathy orr who will give us an update on the forecast. >> wow, right now we're looking at one storm, iain, you can see it right here this counterclockwise swirl in the northern planes that is a strong area of low pressure. this storm is going to continue into the great lakes and redevelop off the coast. now, as it does, it's going strengthen and pull down a lot of cold air and that means snow, hours of snow during the day on wednesday. so let's go hour by hour. where the clouds move in on tuesday, you can see by 10:00 p.m. we have snow, sleet and rain then it's all going to be changing over to snow. heaviest period of snow after the noon hour on wednesday. it snows heavily through the afternoon. and then by eight, nine, 10:00 o'clock it moves off toward the north and the east. we're talking about the potential for this heavy wet snow to bring down more trees and power lines across the region and area to the north and west of the city already very hard hit with our last storm. tuesday night into wednesday night a winter storm watch in effect for most of the regio

we begin tonight with meteorologist kathy orr who's got more on the latest of the storm. kathy. >> absolutely. this is going to be a significant storm for most of us, iain, you mentioned friday's storm. this storm is going to be the tipping point so to speak with additional power outages that is the biggest concern for this storm. the folks that were hit hard on friday will be hit hard again when we're looking at this forecast if it state as is. here are the two storms. one over chicago. the secondary low the coastal storm forming off the mid atlantic. will start to see this count clockwise swirl developing overnight tonight and tomorrow. the showers and snow in central pa this is associated with a front ahead of the storm system. just some renegade snow showers and rain showers. we have a winter storm warning in effect from philadelphia north and west where we expect the heaviest amount of snow. advisory to the south and east for lesser accumulation the rain/snow line will be right along the i-95 corridor. some people will be seeing significant snow. while others a few m
