the nimitz freeway headlights if you can make them out they are going southbound. northbound we are in the yellow tracking a travel time a little over 15 minutes making your way from 238 up towards the maze. fog not an issue but we have delays traffic backed up well into the foot of the maze. and you're in the yellow heading into san francisco about 20 minutes. >>> this view now of golden gate bridge you can kind of see a little bit of the bridge but the fog is definitely low- lying impacting people's drives across the bridge. we'll continue to see dense fog, clearing up this afternoon. so clouds and sun coming soon. we'll have to wait for it. the fog will burn off but not until 9:00, 10:00 this morning. that's finally when we'll start to see it dissipate but for now visibility is definitely impacted out there. hayward down to two-mile visibility and san jose now dropping down to six-mile visibility but, of course, it's worse in some of the low- lying valleys that get fog. look at oakland, a third of a mile visibility tough going through there, through petaluma, sa

the nimitz freeway still in the green. just under 20 minutes heading northbound from 238 towards the maze. the right along 580 heading through oakland is still moving at the limit with no delays between 238 and 9 to 80. the eastshore freeway is in the yellow. a 20 minute ride from highway four to the maze. at the bay bridge toll plaza there has been a few accidents. 22 minutes heading into san francisco. on the other side of the bridge from the 280 extension, this is at the sixth street off ramp. it is backing up along that off ramp. >>> i am watching all of the rain headed our way. you can see moisture up there across much of northern california near the oregon border. let me cement to the north bay and worry the rain is coming down pretty good right now, about one fourth and inch for our -- per hour. st. helena starting to see very light raindrops. it is headed your way. also noticing there is moisture off the coast as well, which is going to work its way towards dillon beach. look at all of that. to the north in eureka,

i do have some good news for you on the nimitz freeway. let's start there. we had a pretty serious accident on northbound 880. that is now gone and the traffic is going to be improving a little bit. you can see is still a little bit slow, there is some unwinding to do. but the crashes gone and traffic is a little bit slow. 880 traffic heading south has been slow past the scene. it continues to slows you drive into fremont. 880 a little farther north of the coliseum you're going to see slow traffic there deftly. if you're driving to the macarthur maze you'll see the slow traffic approaching the maze, bay bridge you'll still have a 20 minute delay before you headed onto the spam. >>> silicon valley commute has not been the worst i've seen. it's not the worst day, it is a little bit it's not -- slow. steve has been saying it is going to rain later today. >>> it's raining pretty hard up north, russian a river area. that is correct for the rest, east, south peninsula will be a little bit later. it's on its way. it's a cold rain at that. increasing clouds already

gonzalez last week in norfolk and i was on the bridge on that destroyer last year i was on the uss "nimitz" and that space is very busy. a bridge on a destroyer, an aircraft carrier is sophisticated. a lot of equipment and technology, a lot of moving people. the same day i visited a simulat simulator, a bridge simulator and we looked at the uss "porter" scenario in the strait of hormuz and now they'll be training on the "fitzgerald" and "mccain" simulation. my concern that i want to raise to you is i was struck by the disparity in the level of modernization on a real deck or bridge and the lack of sfis nation the simulators. it would be like asking an f-35 pilot to train on an f-4 phantom simulator. i would just ask that you take a look at that and as we're fielding a variety of vessels in the navy, that we give our seamen an opportunity to train in what i think would be a more realistic scenario which is a space that more closely resembles what they'll be driving on the high seas and in the narrow straits. >> congressman, i look forward to inviting you other probably this fall to see some
