and so, all of these books came to mount vernon. and so i have a whole chapter on books.tis well, again, we have the same question that we have to keep asking over and over again. did george washington read these books or were they just shelf fillers? if you look at it, george washington catalog the library twice. the fact that he catalog it is an indication that he -- the fact that he had logge -- it is an indication that he looked through all of these books. the first time he did that was at the custis house. and then he did it again when he incorporated those books into his own library. my theory is that george washington retained the custis organizational scheme and then integrated his own books into that scheme. that is what i talk about. in one particular chapter. what you can see is that we know some of the books towards had beforehand and we can see him combining them in terms of subject matter with other books. -- games.as called books aboutwo other card playing in the library. something to keep in mind. it is a nice check.
