the ntsb took statements from the pilot andfers officer of air canada flight 759. the captain said as they approached something still felt odd. and he elected to go around. first officers matthew ma'amier told the ntsb if we could confirm the runway was clear. he looked up and expected to see the runway. when he looked up he couldn't understand what he was looking at. the first officer continued quote they thought they were 400 feet when they initiated the go around he was shocked at how low they were. again it's very important to understore that the ntsb is still in fact finding stage of the investigation. so it will be a while before they have final decisions as to who was at fault or what may have caused this near miss accident, a very railroad critical one. francisco international said because the investigation is underway they are not making comment about the findings released so far today. sfo points out that just last week the f.a.a. recertified the airport for the annual safety inspection. we're live at sfo. david louie, abc 7 news. >>> all right thank you.

canada jet on approach to land when it flies right over the top of four aircraft waiting to take off. fortuantly the plane pulls up just in time.. this particualr incident is still under investigation.but in three other cases the f-a-a concluded pilot error was to blame. in december 2016, a skywest pilot landed on the wrong runway and narrowly missed hitting another plane. in october of last year, another air canada crew almost landed on a plane waiting to take off but was alerted at the last moment. and earlier this year an aeromexico flight was ordered to abort a landing because it was about to strike a plane on the ground. the f-a-a did conclude that in one case late last year, an air traffic controller mistakenly cleared a jet to land on a runway where a virgin america plane was watiting to take off. fortuantly, they were able to correct the error in time.now, sfo officials say that they have made safety improvements at the airport including adding lights along the runways, upgrading the ground radar system, and closing a problematic taxiway. they also released a statement today
