vicky nguyen joins us now with what the family is doing they say to help others. >> reporter: jose says he is devastated. his daughter is gone. as we told you, the tow company responsible for the accident had wracked up millions of dollars in fines and safety violations. now, the family is taking the action to get the trucks off the road. >> listen, they're very smart. and it's hard to explain to a 3-year-old. >> reporter: jose is raising his granddaughter. >> i told her that her mom went to bed and woke up in heaven. she wants to go to heaven. >> reporter: her mother died after being pinned in a ditch where she was working, when a tow truck driver lost control of this car. the gaping hole left by her loss, felt every day by her family. >> it's tough. okay? just walking in the house. >> reporter: knowing what you know now, how do you feel about that company? >> i'm upset. i'm upset at them. i'm upset why they're still in business. why they're still operating. >> reporter: back in july, the investigator unit first ere operating without a wing. permit the day that his daughter was killed.
