alix: dan, do you agree? dan: i have seen it before. every five years there is an emerging market crisis that is going to collapse commodities, and most times, it does not turn out. of course this time it may in fact turn out, but most of the time it think -- i think it is not and the demand picture is going to stay that way. alix: the potential difference is the oil price in local currencies. looking at levels we have not seen since 2008, whether you are looking at the argentine peso or the lira. we have a chart that shows the spike we have seen. how price-sensitive are these countries considering some of the subsidies have rolled off in the last couple of years? dan: to a certain degree, obviously the strength in the dollar is going to impact to demand to a degree, but again, these are inflexible demand numbers to me, and currencies play less of a role then people -- role than people put into them. again, i think the emerging market contagion is not as bad as most people -- at least in the commodities sense as a lot of the analysts ar
