thank you for that, jennifer. martin savage is in wrightsville beach, north carolina where the eye of the storm first made landfall during the day. what's it like now, martin? >> reporter: the amazing thing is, wolf, here we are with 10 hours after landfall and the conditions are gist just as badt seemed back then. that's an indication just how significantly large this storm is and how slow it is in moving away. we're being battered from exactly the opposite direction. now it's coming this way. you can't even look at it without getting a face of nails. the rain continues to just pound from the sky and the winds here, even though they're tropical storm force winds, are primarily having an impact. the longevity, the fatigue factor, are beginning to wear on older structures especially in this area. they have problems with inundation. they have water coming in from the intercoastal, they also have it coming from the atlantic. they also have significant beach erosion on the side. not surprising given what's going on. o
