jennifer: absolutely. we have seen so-called shadow banks kind of rise up in certain quarters of the market. mortgage lending is dominated by nonbanks. broker-dealer stepping on the leverage loan side. smaller banks picking up risk on commercial real estate loans. as the big banks -- the hammer was brought down on them by regulators. now, we have seen other guys that in and pick up some of that slack. joe: looking at the nonbank financial institution line continue to rise and rise -- i imagine it is less regulated and harder to bail them out -- could that be concern? jennifer: that is a good question. context -- banks are still responsible for safety percent of all global lending. they are still -- 60% of all global lending. they are still the majority. they are still really important to this market. the chart is a great one and does show the rise of nonbanks, but big banks are still where a lot of the action is that. they are less regulated, big banks have to go through planning and be super clear about i

jennifer, you're the lawyer among us here. i do want to get your take on the fact that robert mueller hasn't responded to rudy giuliani's latest, you know, pitch to him about having the president come testify. >> well, that's what rudy giuliani says. i'm not at all certain that rudy giuliani is worthy of belief in anything frankly the way that he's been misspeaking over the last few months. but, you know, what he may have gotten is no response. what he may have gotten is a response that just is a, you know, we can't get back to you on this now. it's not at all uncommon. mueller and his team are doing their work. if the president and his team are making, you know, suggestions or requests that are non-substantive or just are non-starters completely, i wouldn't be surprised if mueller and his team just said, you know, we'll get back to you. we don't have time for this or, you know, thank you for your letter. we'll take it under advisement and get back to you later. so i'm just not sure what rudy is actually saying happened here,

thank you for that, jennifer. martin savage is in wrightsville beach, north carolina where the eye of the storm first made landfall during the day. what's it like now, martin? >> reporter: the amazing thing is, wolf, here we are with 10 hours after landfall and the conditions are gist just as badt seemed back then. that's an indication just how significantly large this storm is and how slow it is in moving away. we're being battered from exactly the opposite direction. now it's coming this way. you can't even look at it without getting a face of nails. the rain continues to just pound from the sky and the winds here, even though they're tropical storm force winds, are primarily having an impact. the longevity, the fatigue factor, are beginning to wear on older structures especially in this area. they have problems with inundation. they have water coming in from the intercoastal, they also have it coming from the atlantic. they also have significant beach erosion on the side. not surprising given what's going on. o
