we had karl rove on. he was showing us the poll about enthusiasm and that republicans have caught up to democrats just in the last two months. they are now even when it comes to voting. karl all said that republican women are starting to get more enthusiastic and they are gemmed up about this brett kavanaugh confirmation and gemmed up in favor of republicans. your thoughts on that? >> i think that's what the polls are showing, the increase. the last year and a half the democrats have had an advantage in enthusiasm. hatred is a very powerful motivating tool. they hate president trump and everything about him. but the republicans now seeing what has gone on in the senate are very -- republican women especially. but all republican men and people who believe the presumption of innocence ought to be given to an individual. that is just a basic part of our jurisprudence in the united states that you deserve the presumption of innocent and you must have something more than just an accusation to condemn somebody.

best sell-author, karl rove is with us right now. do we have problems with cakarl? i'm sorry. i thought we had a connection problem. what do you think of the odds here of the republicans actually hanging on? >> well, a lot of people are coming to believe that the so-called blue wave is not as big and blue and it was thought. david wasserman suggests that the democrats are likely to win between 25 and 35 sets and gives the republicans a 30% chance of holding on to the house. it might be slightly better than that it's an uphill fight. the way to look at this is let's take the political report numbers. they have 208 seats that are either lean likely or solid democrat and 196 seats for republicans that are lean likely or solid republican, which means this will come down to 31 toss-up seats. one is a democrat held seat, 29 are republicans. the democrats would have to take a third of those seats and the republicans would have to take better than 2/3s in order to maintain control of the house. so you can see the democrats have an advantage. easier to get there. but not a lock. recent

joining me now, karl rove, former beauty chief of staff to president george w. bush, and chris stirewalt, fox news politics editor appeared great to see both of you tonight. let's start with you. what is your big take away? >> republican enthusiasm is up. there is a very interesting pull out from harvard harris which showed republicans, 46% of republicans said they were absolutely certain to vote as a result of kavanaugh. 50% of democrats -- republicans have trailed democrats on enthusiasm for several months now, and so the republicans have made up much more ground. my sense is they could make up even more. in the harvard harris poll, 37% of people after the hearing said they favor the confirmation of kavanaugh, 44 opposed, 18 undecided pair they then asked what would happen if the fbi did an investigation and found no corroborating witnesses to the allegation. 60% would favor confirmation, 40% would oppose, and nobody lacked an opinion on it. 52% -- 50% of independents would support confirmation, and 40% of democrats would support confirmation if the fbi backgr

rove served as senior adviser to president george w. bush. karl, thank you for coming in. so describe the comeback, what evidence do you see for it? >> well, i was suggesting that in addition to increase in republican enthusiasm and likelihood to vote that's been mirrored in a number of polls for after kavanaugh that this was actually starting before kavanaugh, if you looked at some of the individual state polls, for example, in tennessee up through labor day democrat led in 5 of 6 statewide polls, since labor day republican candidate marsha blackburn has led 4 to 5 polls conducted. my suggestion was that there was other things going on just besides kavanaugh and the other thing important beside natural increase in republican enthusiasm was the quality of individual republican campaigns. if you look at it particularly in the house since september, north carolina 13, representative, ohio with steve, ohio 12 with troy, new jersey 3 with tom mcarthur, virginia 2 with scott taylor, florida with carlos carbella. all appear to be moving in re
