(ken) william newsom iii... a former california judge and father of governor elect-gavin newsom... has died. the former court of appeals judge died this morning at his san francisco home. a statement from the governor elect called william a "proud, lifelong californian." newsom was appointed to the placer county superior court in 1975 by governor jerry brown. and he was deeply involved with environmental organizations like the sierra club. newsom was 84 years old.
