(robin) as you begin putting away your holiday decorations ... the city of san francisco is getting ready to recycle christmas trees. trees will be collected from residents between january 2nd and january 11th, before 6 a.m. on regular collection days. the trees should be free of all tinsel, decorations, stands and lights officials also ask that trees over six feet tall be cut in half and that trees not be placed in plastic bags. the city recycled more than 500 tons of christmas trees last year. (j.r.)tonight the man accused of killing a california officer in the central valley is sitting in a jail cell. you see him right here. 7 others were arrested as athorities say they helped that man evade police.last night a vigil was held to remember officer ronil singh. he was shot and killed during a traffic stop on wednesday in newman, california. a city just 98 miles southeast of san francisco. officer singh leaves behind a wife and a five month old boy. his brother and friends spoke at last night's vigil. 33-year-old gustavo perez arriaga was arrested friday at a home in kern county california. that's around 200 miles south of the shooting scene. the sheriff says that arriaga came to the country illegally and was trying to get back to mexico.
