our nbc bay area sky ranger was overhead down below. you can see one of the suspects surrendering tonight. four people are in custody. this all played out at a local motel and prompted the lockdown of surrounding neighborhoods. nbc bay area's sergio quintana joins us in fremont with all the details. sergio? >> reporter: fremont police officers and s.w.a.t. team members surrounded this moltar lodge and they even evacuated the whole motel, all of its guests, just to be on the safe side. after about five hours two people inside one of the rooms did come out with their hands up. from sky ranger you can see two men coming oust rear patio of room 121 at the mission peak lodge. both had their hands over their heads and both were later taken away. the fremont police s.w.a.t. team brought this howard-long standoff to an end. they did it by attaching a long battering ram device to one of its armored personnel carriers. >> we used a ram to break out one of the sliding glass windows to force entry into the room. at that point the two subjects insid
