the helicopter floated all the way down to manhattan. this helicopter went down in front of the helipad, which was helpful. the fdny has tied it to the dock here. we're waiting for more details. we know it was a private helicopter. shep? >> shepard: i mentioned the rescue. more details on that now. this is incredible. the captain was carrying passengers between west 39th street in manhattan. that's where you would go on a ferry to go to new jersey. they were taking this over to hoboken new jersey. he saw the chopper go down. it was an hour and -- two hours and ten minutes ago. this is that particular new york waterway ferry crew, captain, second rescue in ten years. he was -- this same company was part of the miracle on the hudson rescue. they rescued almost 300 point from the waters of the new york harbor when flight 1549 went into the river there. so they rescued more than 300 people. members of a ferry crew, back and forth, back and forth all day long between manhattan and new jersey. bryan has confirmed this is a blade helicopter. yo

it was mentioned on saturday when cameras were following him around in manhattan that he was going to hold one before he showed up here. but so we're kind of in a holding pattern, and whether or not he even decided to do that. but back here in otisville we are standing in front of the prison right now. which is about 70 miles northwest of new york city. and lots of media presence out here as well as security. and we're actually right in front of two-mile drive. this is the only way in to this federal prison. we actually had a chance to talk with a former case manager who used to work at otisville for many, many years. he was able to kind of give us a sense of what day one will look like for michael cohen when he checks in later today sometime before 2:00. he said he will show up. he will be screened and then he will be processed at the medium security prison which is also on this site. and then later on he will be transferred to the minimum security camp. that's when he will be issued the uniform, the prison uniform, getting the towels. that's pretty much it. any semblance of a normal

a beautiful day in midtown manhattan. this memorial day weekend is on everyone's mind, barbecuing and with the family and all that. we'll do a lot more of that in the segments to come, but in the meantime we're in gridlock in washington where two parties aren't talking to each other. some don't know. i have italian relatives that haven't talked for decades and ask you ask why, they don't remember why it happened. it's not bad for the country. we get drilled in our head it can't be productive. wall street kind of likes that, in a split government environment where it's tougher to get tough done, the markets do better and this dates back to 1950, through 2017, that in a gridlock environment where you have the party in the white house under one control and the house and/or senate under another control, stocks do better. that's the history. it doesn't mean you do that shabby when it's all one party with a run of the table, but it's better when it's split. what to make of that with charles payne and i find that's revealing. >>
