jon: i'm jon erlichman intoronto. gianteek, research morningstar announces it is overhauling its investment fund rating system. on the fees will play a bigger part in a new methodology. joining us to discuss the move is ceo kunal kapoor. how did you historically look at fees, and how is that changing? fees have always been an important part of how we think about any recommendation. morningstar has been an advocate for a long time on behalf of investors. what we are really trying to do now is ensure that not only are we focusing on fees but making sure that when we are evaluating active funds, we evaluate them on their true ability to provide alpha. i think the real notion here is and move apart the two pieces, have expenses as one portion, and then focusing on the scale of the manager where it makes sense. shery: fees has been a part of the equation that has attracted so may people too passive. do you believe at some point a day will come where we will see more money in passive than active equity funds? kunal: it seem

jon: i'm jon erlichman in toronto. trade obviously a big storyline. face to face negotiations between the top chinese and u.s. trading or shooters could happen soon. chinese state media reporting this following the recent meeting with soybean buyers. let's bring in jenny leonard who joins us from washington. you have written a lot about where we are in the street talks. what is the latest? jenny: we are at a standstill right now. the past couple of days there has been some goodwill gestures on both sides. that is what the chinese media interprets. ustr has issued some exclusion approvals for chinese goods. on the chinese side, as you said, some movements on the soybean purchases. nothing is finalized, of course. i would just note, these are incremental steps in such a big dispute that fell apart in such a dramatic way, it is really uncertain right now how much these incremental steps matter in the big picture for when the two sides actually sit down again. as we have reported, they don't even know where to start. there could be incremental steps comin
