jeff joins us now with that part of story. what are you focusing on tonight? >> it's a very important issue to us. we did want to focus in on five different locations. each night we'll have brand flu location. tonight it's greenland. you can see it here on the map. the united states off to the south. the reason we put a focus on this is because of the amount loss this region has per year. 300 billion tons of ice loss attributes to of the sea level rise happening because of this ice loss in greenland. now i do want to pull back the layer a bit more because we hear a lot about climate change and just kind of focus in on a couple of details here. first offer what is being studied so closely by scientists across the globe is the rate of climate change and how much specifically is being caused by humans. we know the climate has been changing 1.4 degrees over the past years. 1.4 does not seem like a lot. that's not change for one city. that's a global change. you need a lot of cities with warmer temperatures in other words to get the earth temperature to rise 1.4 de

here with the latest and where the storm is head, meteorologist jeff berardelli. jeff, what is the latest. >> reena this storm is getting better organized and strengthening. the good news is it is beginning to move away from the bahamas. but we think it will likely be a hurricane fairly soon. you can see on the satellite lots of big thunderstorms blowing around the center. it's going to be lifting north ever so slowly the next 24-48 hours as it moves over very warm gulf stream waters it probably becomes a hurricane, and then it's rushed out to the east by a strong jet stream protecting the northeast united states. but as it moves up along the east coast of florida, just far enough offshore, we're going to see wind gusts to around 40 miles per hour, but it will spare the worst of it. it looks like most of it stays out to sea with wind gust gust o 32 miles an hour. waves will build up to 30 feet offshore. that means rough surf and very dangerous swimming conditions, reena, for at least the next few days in the southeast. >> o'donnell: all right, meteorologist jeff b

chief meteorologist jeff ranieri is tracking our changing weather. jeff? >> and very, very slowly, those numbers are starting to drop. the official numbers are now in, and one of the hottest day was santa rosa at 105, smashing the old record of 98 degrees. concord a new record at 99. san francisco, 94, beating the old of 93 set way back in 1954. san jose, 99. that is also a new record. so where are we right now with the temperatures? slowly beginning to drop. 93 in napa. 85 in san francisco. and 96 in san jose. i want to get a closer look at the ocean breeze. it is moving out of the west at 18. so this is also beginning to bring some changes. it's not very large right now, but you can see in san francisco to oakland, we're 1 to 2 degrees cooler, and that is just the indication here that the ocean breeze is beginning to pick up. now through tomorrow, not quite as hot. 11:00 in the morning, we're in the 70s to 80s. we'll talk about this cooling system and how much it drops temperatures over the next couple of days in about 15 minutes. >> okay. we'll see you
