kris? >> reporter: hi there, laura. the freeway is open again, so it won't have an impact on the commute, but the chp will continue investigating how it is that that driver ended up on i-80, but headed in the wrong direction. this was the scene shortly after that crash, what's left of those two vehicles when the driver of a chevy trailblazer got on to i-80 headed in the wrong direction, that is westbound and the eastbound lanes. the drivers smashed into the other car and what we know at this point is that two people died, whether it's both drivers or perhaps the passenger is unclear. at this point chp cannot say why that driver found themselves on the roadway in the wrong direction. however, according to the chp, a pinole police sergeant saw that driver run two red lights and drop a passenger off before the crash. they were cleared to say there was no active pursuit. we are going to ask more questions. coming up at 6:45, we'll tell you what to do, if you find yourself on a dark roadway, you're driving around the bay are
