"today in the bay's" kristy smith is live in san jose. the slick roads could have been a factor in this. >> reporter: yes, that's right. at this point, we really don't know that answer, but i can tell you just from standing here that the roads are wet, and on our way down to our live location, we did just pass the crash scene, which is about three quarters of aa mile up the road from where we are standing t happened around three hours ago on the northbound highway 101 connector to 280 in san jose, happened just after 4:00 this morning. the chp responded to that crash, finding two cars with seven people injured. san jose fire worked to extricate multiple people from both cars and sadly, one person has died. six are in serious condition, transported to trauma centers. the northbound connector of 101 to 280 in san jose remains closed. as we were coming down, we did notice they had at least one of those vehicles up on a flatbed truck, and it did look to us like they were making some progress. that's the latest from here, reporting live in san
