neighboringfrom the state of massachusetts. tell us about how you think her proximity as a massachusetts neighbor has helped her in new hampshire. >> people in the southern tier of new hampshire who get a lot of their news coverage from massachusetts whether it's from boston tv or boston newspapers such as the globe and the herald pickup news from massachusetts and therefore would obviously have heard of senator warren before she decided to run for senate. that she haso campaigned in new hampshire in the past for some of our state candidates here. for example our united states senators. notion thathe neighboring states have a huge advantage is a little overblown in new hampshire. thee's a lot of parts of state that aren't reached by the boston medium market and people here really do expect the candidates to come here and campaign and voters make up their minds among all the candidates. it might give an advantage with respect to name recognition and the media coverage for massachusetts but i don't think that's really more than a

missouri and kentucky, on the other hand -- i should say, in massachusetts and connecticut, massachusetts in 1920, 60 percent of the population was first or second generation immigrant for the purpose of those laws or for those who are already in power to try to keep these new immigrants away from poles and not having as big an impact on voting. -- polls. missouri and kentucky had few registration requirements, no poll tax or literacy test. the other thing that makes these two groups of states different is the level of competition. the 1920's were a time in which most american states were overwhelmingly blue or overwhelmingly red. this is the solid democratic south that in most elections in the south in this. there are not even republicans being fielded or nominated for office. hand, massachusetts and connecticut are overwhelmingly red during this. . they will be one of the dramatic switches in the new deal. . but are overwhelmingly republican in this. . -- and this time. the only two that could be classified as competitive and this time would be missouri and kentucky. the presidential el

i will pounce out to maine, vermont, massachusetts. sanders ran up the store on hillary clinton four years ago and these counties that border his home state. just to show you this right now, this is grafton county, still a ways away. it is more rural and not as many votes, quick math tells you that is 6,000, 7,000. you have about 12,000, 13,000, 14,000 more votes that will come in here. the point is sanders did well against hillary clinton and these counties. he is not running up the same numbers on a percentage basis. and a real vote total that he did four years ago. so that's got a bit of an interesting development. pop down here and you find king and chester county from a similar story about 15,000 votes four years ago. so right now, four, five, six, 10,000 now. about two-thirds of the voters tabulated in this county. sanders, he was racking up numbers of 70% against hillary clinton. again, he's not doing that yet. one other story line developing that is interesting and that is this. many thought it was possible that warren could cu
