gilroy garlic shooting. we have the details on this. >> reporter: the community is certainly coming together here at christmas hill park in the city of gilroy. the scene of the deadly mass shooting this time last year. but, in speaking with people throughout the community today you really get the sense that the community has been coming together ever since this terrible tragedy. a memorial now stands near the spot where one year ago today, shots rang out at the gilroy garlic festival. a palm tree and garden is a tribute to the three people who were killed when a gunman cut through a fence and fired an assault rifle into the crowd. gilroy mayor says the city is trying to move past that terrible event. >> today we raised the gilroy strong flag to represent the strength and the resilience each and every one of you has shown this last year. this flag represents our collective spirit, and desire, to rise above senseless acts of violence. >> reporter: days after the shooting, this gilroy silk screener started putt

you can see behind me the city of gilroy just raised this "gilroy strong" flag. which is about a hundred yards from where the shooting took place during the gilroy garlic festival. moments ago the mayor offered these words of encouragement. quote, when the world knocks you down, get back up. the mayor joined by the city council and first responders held a moment of silence for the three people that were murdered and the others that were wounded. the color guard then raised the flag. evidenced by the $1.9 million raised for the victim's fund. the mayor wish the city could claim victory over this tragedy by holding the garlic fest this year, but that was canceled because of covid. instead, he says gilroy must find victory in other ways. >> we will claim victory each time we treat a neighbor with kindness, stand up for injustice, and seek understanding. we claim we victoria when he seek our ways to make our community better for each other. today, we raise the gilroy strong flag to represent each and every one of you has shown this last year. this flag represents our

it's 62 in san jose with low to mid-50s from gilroy and pacifica. our roof camera, sun coming up in just about five minutes or so. it's kind of shaded there, looking at 53 in santa rosa. it's warmer this morning in the low 50s in petaluma. you had the 40s yesterday. 62 by the delta. very light winds and 65 in concord. livermore 62. this was a picture of the golden gate bridge. you can barely see it there with that haze. the high relative humidity, the pollutants there, so a clear, hazy start this morning, warm inland and around the bay. those warm temperatures return but closer to the coast, even though we don't have the fog, that sea breeze will be with us, the fog returns later on tonight. here is a look at the current wave heights, from seven to nine feet. the south facing beaches are looking at certainly an increased risk of sneaker waves and rip currents. so that's all up and down the coast. so as we look at the fog, it's not there right now but it comes back and that should help clean up the atmosphere, bringing a bit of a cooldown and the gus

let's start in gilroy with "today in the bay's" roz plater. she is there with new details on the crews fire. roz? >> reporter: indeed. we are learning this started with a structure fire. we are with the cal fire folks who are stationed along the road. you see the orange embers, the hilly terrain they are working. some of the pictures from overnight, they have their hands full. cal fire says the fire has extended to some 1,500 acres and is only about 15% contained and at least two homes have been destroyed. we now know it started with a structure fire on crews road just after 2:00 yesterday afternoon. firefighters say the winds had quickly spread the fire to nearby brush and beyond. there is a evacuation in place for some 25 homes and some of those evacuees tell us they were hesitant to leave at first. >> by the time i got up there, it still looked like i might be okay. i mean, it happened very quickly. it was spreading very fast. >> reporter: now there is better containment on the park fire in morgan hill that started late saturday night and b
