what we have seen on the streets of kenosha. there was vigilanteism, there was chaos two nights ago and we saw this 17-year-old with an ar-15 be arrested for -- and charged with killing two protesters. and help us explain what we saw in that moment. i don't know if you have seen this cell phone video where the kenosha police are offering water to we believe the suspect and other vigilantes with guns on the street and saying we sure appreciate you guys out here. why would the kenosha police want the help of armed vigilantes and say they appreciate them? >> i can't explain that. i have a different attitude than maybe officers currently employed at the kenosha police department. i wouldn't be grateful for the help of armed, untrained vigilantes whose character and motives can be questioned. i did watch exactly what you're talking about. and i was appalled by it. i also watched -- spent the entire night watching the live feed of the shooting and the events and i watched it in realtime and i was disgusted by it. now, the fact is that

she is also on the ground in kenosha. sara, you've done an amazing job trying to paint a picture of what happened last night and it was clearly chaos from all of the videos that are out there and a lot of speculation concerning who caused it. what is the latest that you can tell us? what are you hearing? >> reporter: so here's a couple of things. i talked to someone who has seen this unfold overnight and who is from this community and they talked about a couple of things. one, this night was different from the other past two nights where it's been people who were protesting in the name of jacob blake, protesting against police and much of that happening here and just a few streets down. this was different because interjected into these protests were people who came in, who were wearing army-type garb or military-type garb, people who were saying they were surrounding a business or two particularly gas stations, who were trying to act as if they were law enforcement, who were questioning people as if they were law enforcem

cnn's omar jimenez is on the scene for us in kenosha. omar, very disturbing developments where you are as the city is about to go under an earlier curfew for the third night. >> reporter: that's right, wolf. today was really the first day we'd heard from law enforcement in any substantial way since jacob blake was shot. and as you mentioned we are going to see a curfew put in place an hour earlier than we had seen in previous nights in an attempt, as officials tell me, to try and deal with some of these demonstrations under more daylight as opposed to purely at night like we've seen in the past. as law enforcement here has dealt first-hand with the pain and anger in this community and in some cases like we saw last night deadly violence. [ chanting ] a contentious and at times violent night in kenosha, wisconsin, for a third night in a row. in the late night hours, gunshots, someone appears to go to the ground and then opens fire. last night police say two people were killed and a third seriously injured. >> what i can't tell you is what

sara sidner, cnn, kenosha. >> we spoke with the kenosha county supervisor. he is on the line. pe appreciate you doing so. what do you want from the president to do or say while he's in kenosha? >> thanks for having me. i'll start with that. i think what's most important with having the president visit kenosha here is him letting the people of kenosha know he heard our cries for help. he received our letter, hopefully, that myself and my colleagues sent to him that was asking for help from the federal government. >> if he's going to meet with law enforcement and you are is vai damages, the white house says, but does not meet with the blake family, would that be of concern? >> you know, i'm not going to comment on that. i don't know what communications the white house has had or not had with the blake family andrea exhibit to go out on a limb. >> would that help with the healing in the community, though? >> i think it may, for sure, but like i say, i don't know if there has been communications or one side or the other is unwilling to meet. >> speak to the mood in the community r

[inaudible conversations] >> stay here, a stay here! get down, right now. get down on the sidewalk right now. get down. lou: all this while the democratic mayor of kenosha has ordered the police to effectively stand down. the governor of wisconsin has actually been rather snarky in declining president trump's offer of help. and the shooter, 17-year-old kyle wright, arrested today in antioch, illinois, about 20 miles from kenosha. he was charged there with fist-degree -- first-degree intentional homicide. they haven't determined if he was responsible for both killings last night. president trump has announced that wisconsin's radical dem governor, tony evers, has now -- as of today -- accepted his offer to send federal forces to kenosha to stop the violent riots and looting and shooting and killing. the president tweeted this: we will not stand for looting, arson, violence

now to our national correspondent in kenosha for us. we heard emotional appeals from jacob blake's family. what is the very latest? >> reporter: we did. jacob blake family while marching in washington, here in kenosha we know now from jacob blake's local attorney that he is no longer shackled to his hospital bed. he has been shackled his whole time by the leg to the bed but that has changed. we learned from his attorney that he is no longer being guarded by police because warrants out for his arrest have been vacated. the family of jacob blake joining thousands in washington rallying to give a voice taken away at the hands of police. >> you must stand. you must fight. not with violence and chaos. >> authorities revealing new details now about jacob blake's past and the circumstances surrounding the shooting that left blake paralyzed. the sheriff saying he has come to the hospital bed because blake has felony warrants for his arrest including one from july for sexual assault and the restraint highly criticized by blake's family. >> i wal

>> no, the man who shot protesters in kenosha. i'm talking about kenosha. >> the president has been very clear. the president has been very clear. whether it was with that individual or mr. blake or anywhere else, he has asked for proper investigation. in fact, i was in the oval office when he brought the attorney general in and 9:30 in the morning when mr. blake was shot just the previous evening. when he looked at that, he says what i want to do is make sure that there's a proper investigation. that's why we have laws and that's why we have a justice system. and lady justice has a blindfold on that should look at all of these things in a way that makes sure that justice is brought forward. but for you to try it out on a sunday morning show or for me to do that on a sunday morning show is not what our justice system is set up to do. what we always must do is make sure that the rule of law is there, not just because it's a rule of law, but because it creates a safer community, whether it's in kenosha, wisconsin, or anywhere else.

now to kenosha, wisconsin, and the tensions there. police are extending the capurf ahead of president trump's planned visit tomorrow. cnn's shimon prokupecz is live in kenosha with more. what's the situation there? >> reporter: yeah, alisyn. and the governor writing a two-page letter to that president donald trump, urging him not to come here. and here's what he wrote in the letter. he writes, i am concerned your presence will only hinder our healing. i am concerned your presence will only delay our work to overcome division and move forward together. i am likewise concerned that an in-person visit from you will require a massive redirection of these resources and to support your visit at a time when it is critical that we continue to remain focused on keeping the people of kenosha safe and supporting the community's response. that's the governor here, urging the president not to come here tomorrow. now, the white house has responded, and said that the president intends to still visit this city. the white house says that the president
