karnow is back lawrence again the winds are not calm. now we're still going to see another blustery 9 fact was just checking some of those observations. >>mount saint that a gust of 89 miles per hour yesterday. >>now starting to ramp up again they just had a gust. 45 miles per hour. so certainly winds are going to be the major concern the fire danger running high. the area's desert dry out there we've had humidity the measure down into the single digits outside right now this is a surface map of what's going on we've got high pressure off the coastline building in the pacific northwest behind that low that is drop for the south and they're seeing some extremely gusty. santa ana winds in southern california, even the stronger the near the bay area when the enough here, but by tomorrow things are going to be able to switch gears a little bit that low is finally going to kick a little further to the east as it moves for these the difference between these 2 pressure system's going to widen quite a bit and that means things are finally going

karnow lawrence we're worried a lot of people worried about the air quality the smoke, but first things first you got to lower the temperatures lower the winds to get the fires out yes so much going on in the atmosphere very hot temperatures expected again tomorrow heat advisories. >>are going upper body is just not used to these hot temperatures really not cool off much at night even inside the bay in the peninsula, these temperatures getting hot. >>80's. some mid-nineties you make when redwood city of menlo park santa clara of course going to be on the hot side and hazy and smokey temperatures. they're soaring up in the 90's the east bay of course one of the hotter spots getting near a 100 degrees in places like pleasanton livermore inside the bay are up in the 90's 2 contra costa county also looking at some hot temperatures getting near a 100 by tomorrow afternoon and in around the fire near triple digit heat tomorrow again as we're seeing that offshore wind developing that sticking around for at least another day it looks like now are in you have to place like lavine this force know

karnow is here lawrence it feels like we say it every year this time that we need rain in the worst way yeah we sure do and usually it takes. >>about the 3rd and the 4th week in october for start talking about showers right now i don't see any raindrops in the forecast so fire conditions, everything primed outside right now we've got those gusty winds just now beginning to develop in parts of the north bay. we'll see some of those gusts around the bay area 3045 mile an hour gusts, maybe some 50 plus mile hour gusts over some of the highest mountain peaks in the north bay and the east bay also strongest in toward the santa cruz mountains. so certainly some dangerous fire conditions ahead, keeping our fingers crossed because otherwise i mean it is gorgeous out there look at that shot tehran. a beautiful fall day out there toward the golden gate bridge, no fog to speak of it is going to stay clear all night long the temperatures it's going to be spectacular the numbers may be 86 degrees downtown san francisco about the sunset you're looking at 72 right there near the beach 70 degrees g

karnow. here with more details lauren yeah, yeah vicki in fact it's really just kind wafting about in the atmosphere a few moments ago we're talking about how san francisco had the some of the worst smoke. >>in the bay area that has pushed now across the bay a bit into oakland mill valley up toward of all you're looking very unhealthy air quality right now all the way in the concord and live more now in the san jose as well poor quality elsewhere all around the bay area tomorrow not going to be a whole lot of improvement we've got that northerly wind that continues to pump all that smoke from the glass fire back in across the rest the bay area so we'll see poor air quality inside the bay. i think we may get enough of a breeze along the coastline by tomorrow afternoon to make for some moderate conditions, but it'll still be smoke there. and of course near the fire very poor air quality and the east bay, a lot of that smoke getting trapped inside some of the valley certainly want to see in plac

karnow with us now lawrence we all know some of the warmest days in san francisco every year happened in september and yeah, it certainly we'll see that this week this week's going to be amazing weather wise temperatures are going to be unbelievably warm even along the coastline you can find some warm temperatures as we head through the weekend. yeah they're not to be much in the way of cloud cover out there we'll see some offshore winds maybe we see a patch or 2 of fog along the coastline tonight. i think that's it we've got nice clear skies up toward the golden gate bridge beautiful out there right now and you're going to see those nice warm days and those cool nights ahead as high pressure rats going try and take over here kind of flat red setting up right now there's one more cold front that's a roll over the top of that ridge and we'll watch a ridge of high pressure start to build in winds not all that strong a word about the strong gusty offshore winds will bring the higher fire danger right now just more of a breeze out there in the afternoon the west at 9 in the san francisco

but now we want to go straight to our chief meteorologist lawrence karnow with a look at the fire weather conditions. lawrence yeah certainly this is not what we want to see is a fire breaking out before major wind event. >>but this falls right in between the glass fire in the l a new fire in fact those fires you can tell that the brush there was already set ready to go so you're in very active fire region and now we've got another fire burning. >>and we've got some very strong winds coming on the way. winds right now we've seen of the 1618 miles per hour in fire certainly enough to move that fire long. but that's not what we're most concerned about is the winds that will likely take place this weekend, red flag warnings are going up for the entire bay area over the weekend expecting some 4050 mile an hour gusts, even down in the valley floors we're going to see some very gusty winds extremely low humidity maybe even some places less than 10% and over the mountain tops maybe some 6070 mile an hour winds. so here we go put this into motion now as we take in tomorrow morning, not bad just a

storm has gusty winds of up to 35 miles per hour chief meteorologist lawrence karnow joining us now with the details there guys yeah hurricane season isn't over yet in fact, i'm looking at something. >>and the computer talk about another hurricane next week, but right now you know the remnants of zeta now combining with some cold air making its way across the united states. and another storm system so kind of modifying is it's going to cross lot of rain moving up in the northeast right now you can see the heavy storm. the main remnants of to make its way up the coastline but behind that you've got a lot of cold air and some snow so. here's the latest on some of the tracks these little dots which are seen on the screen. there. those are storm reports of the reported by people trees coming down fences blown over power lines coming down just a mess all along this path and even some tornadoes being produced by saying as it moved on through now on the backside of this here we go you can see that cold air begins to move in moving across the great lakes sliding into new england and there we go

all right want to bring you down to chief meteorologist lawrence karnow who is here with the latest on the forecast lawrence where those fire conditions going to be the most dangerous yeah it's going to start i think the worst in the north bay to begin with but then then as we head toward the middle of the day tomorrow start to see those winds moving in the east bay hills the diablo range and also as parts of san mateo county and in the santa cruz county as well high pressure now just setting itself up so those winds are going to be developing we're seeing those pick up around the bay area right now fact some of those winds start to get a little gusty in spots in around what was the glass fire you can see some of those winds in the high country now 50 miles an hour glen ellen 17 atlas peak, you've got 15 in the outfield 16 in a soda springs, you see the direction. they're coming from out of the north as well so that's a very dry wind that is settling in now much of the rest the bay area just sunny and bright above normal temperatures you see more of a northerly wednesday but nothing to

but first chief meteorologist lawrence karnow tracking the dangerous conditions there prompting these fire concerns torrance, you guys it seems like the fire season, the wooden and it just continues and continues and until we get any rain we're going to see more fire danger this when we get those offshore winds we've been talking about. >>and red flag warnings going up again tonight extended all the way to friday. i think they're going to go through the weekend and probably at least the middle of next week before fire danger comes to an end expecting now between now and friday 30 miles a 40 mile an hour gusts over the santa cruz mountains humidity, 12 to about 20% into the east bay and not just the mountains but also down the valley floor down livermore pleasanton dublin, sam ramon you're going to see some 2030 mile an hour gusts, higher gusts over the mountain tops of 4050 miles per hour slow county, 25 to 40 mile an hour gusts, humidity way down there 18 to 23%. and in the north bay over the mountain tops above a 1000 feet right now, but that maybe change expecting some gusty winds

karnow lawrence was the latest in a very long hurricane season to one. >>well, here's a the now making its way the yucatan peninsula on as it moves on shore certainly bringing some heavy rainfall in that area now likely going to begin to weaken as it moves across land and pushes out of the some open water. so certainly we're going to see a change coming our way as we see it to probably weaken overnight just a little bit but sustained winds of 80 miles per hour right now and say the looks like it's going to begin to push out over the open waters and as it does doesn't look like it's going to strengthen that much maybe just slightly as we head through the day tomorrow but by tuesday afternoon you got 75 mile an hour sustained winds and then as we watch a move further in closer to the united states by wednesday morniwg, maybe 85 mile an hour sustained winds so still a category one and then here we go again and boy just hard to believe, but once again we've got louisiana possibly in the crosshairs of yet another hurricane this one possibly coming onshore as

karnow joining us now. >>lawrence, it feels like every few weeks for the past couple months that region has had a big storm to deal with the unbelievable. i mean the gulf really right in the midst of all the storms that have been affecting the u.s. this year making landfall here we go again, yes, santa making landfall and coming on shore as a category 2 hurricane right near morgan city pushing on shore now this storm going to start to weaken, but it's being picked up by some cold air on the backside of the show you that more in just a moment, there are numerous reports of trees down damage throughout new orleans and continue to see power lines coming down thousands of people without power, but it is a fast moving storm is making its way to the north there you can see it sliding further and further to the north that bringing with it the heavy rainfall along that band maybe 4 maybe 8 inches of rain in some of those downfalls but we're going to see the storm system sustained winds 90 miles an hour. but watch t
