i'm scott mcgrew in for marcus washington. big story today, wind and weather creating potential fire danger. we have a team of people covering this, this morning. on the conditions, let's start with meteorologist kari hall. good morning. >> and, scott, it is crazy that we are talking about fire conditions in january. this is supposed to be the middle of our rainy season, but we haven't gotten a lot of it. now we're dealing with very dry vegetation and the winds coming in. and we have an elevated fire risk for the bay area. now some of our mountain wind gusts have already been over 80 miles an hour and for our valleys, we'll start to feel those winds going into this evening. so all you need are some type of spark that could really make things go out of control really quickly under these conditions. as we look at what's going on, right now most of us are feeling a light wind in some of the valleys. then you can see how that wind is funneling through the delta as we look at fairfield and even toward napa. 43-mile-per-hour winds.
