this is a case of what derek chauvin did on that day. the other thing they're trying to point out, derek chauvin did things he was trained to do, and used procedures approved by the minneapolis police. under law, you're only allowed to use as much force which is necessary to detain or control a person in custody. and once somebody is in your custody, they're also in your care. they're up against videos of bystanders saying to police, including derek chauvin, he's not responsive. he's not breathing anymore. take his pulse. and they showed police not doing that. derek chauvin not getting up off of his neck. the defense is trying to do two things. number one, saying this derek chauvin was using approved procedures by the police that were appropriate at the time. and number two, saying that it was an unfortunate set of circumstances, that george floyd had things going on that this may have exacerbated. it's not exonerating that other things may have been involved but they don't have to prove anything. just sow a little confusion, prove it's
