starting in the south bay, northbound 101 right at blossom hill. that is where chp is working on an accident. they are waiting on tow crews to arrive on scene. it's involving a vehicle that overturned and hit the center divide. there were injuries but it's in the clearing stages but it's causing a back up, you know the positive is that it's early. there's not a lot of traffic traveling through. hopefully the delays aren't too bad as you head through there. the rest of 101 is moving at the limit north of there through san jose with no troubles heading into the peninsula. couple other things to look out for if you are going out of tracy into the pass. things are already starting to get busy this morning. 30 minute ride from 205 over toward 680. i'm tracking a few brake lights on that ride along the east shore freeway. there's road work in and around. that may be the cause of these brake lights here. no accidents in justlittle sluggish for late running road work. if you are going toward the bay bridge toll plaza. no troubles out of the east bay into t

home, once a week i write a blog on the hill's history. finding you topics to look at is kind of a interesting process. sometimes you guys will contact me and say i've been wondering about, this would about this? other times will happen is i will find a old guy book of washington d.c., and that will lead meet words something new. so for instance, the story of philip read, a lot of people have researched this. they keep coming back to this guy, who wrote a number of books about the capital. usually they talk about a little book, another book, this book here, that tells the story about philip read and his crucial importance in casting the statue of freedom. so it is very personal. guidebooks tend to be very personal. they were written at a time when very few people actually travel. so often it would actually be somebody who traveled to d.c. and wanted to talk about what he or she had seen so that the folks at home could have that experience as well. so for, instance this book, here as far as i can tell he did not live anywhere in the area. b

they still did this on capitol hill. this one goes back to 1974. this particular portion of it is 1984. i can see it is february 2. 1984. but you can see the first two names on here is modeled reagan -- is ronald reagan and george bush. then you get a variety of people from new york city, but specifically, a lot of people from reno, older city nevada, carson city and gardnerville, which is south of carson city which is a small ranching community. you get a lot of interested nevadans come into paul laxalt's office. which i think is still the case with many of our members of congress. but i think it is neat to see that the president and vice president are right up there on top. this is a finished folder from from -- from the actual manuscript collection. these markers are for my reference so i can find something in here. this is an acid-free folder. it has the title. this is 1980 convention file which includes drafts of laxalt's nominating speech for reagan. this is the part of the collection that is fully processed. the reagan portion. if i open up
