mike: it is not incredibly unusual. markets look forward and they are pricing in very strong growth. i think the credit markets are also more in my camp with regard to rates staying low and credit benefiting from the combination of easing monetary and fiscal policy. one thing that is important to note, the high-yield index is made up of three investments. you have the equity-like securities, the high-yield, then you have bb's that are more like investment-grade credits. when you look at that, you see that the bb's are more light-sensitive than the rest of the market, they have underperformed. bb's are still offering spreads that are in access -- that are in excess of what you get in bbb land. most of the public credit markets have seen their better days in the private credit markets are where there is some return for the level of risk and you are seeing massive growth of the private credit market in a positive way, mainly because you have seen companies in the public equity markets now in the private equity markets. the

all right, mike. how about it >> i like taking advantage of the fact that implied volatility is going into the catalyst we don't want to sell naked call options, because that carries unlimited risk and the other thing, of course, here with the market having just hit all-time highs, we have morgan stanley, which actually doesn't seem to be doing the same to me, that's some relative weakness i would want to keep an eye out for. but i will say, among the financials, morgan stanley is one of my favorites. as long as you continue to evaluated market prices, there are net beneficiaries when you see that going on. i still like the name, but i could see it taking a pause and that's essentially what this trade is, betting that it's going to pause here. >> what about you, carter? a lot of it has to do with rates, too, and where they go from here. >> sure, sure, but it's just so extended you're talking about from the october low, morgan stanley is up 85% versus the s&p up 25. it's trading 40-plus percent that's

for those reasons, i do potentially think about mike's trade, where i might adjust that to a diagonal. i think there is a little bit more upside here for microsoft going into earnings. i would go a little further out in terms of the weeklies i might go into the may weeklies, but sell a 280 call against it, giving it a little bit of upside here on microsoft, because i think it is very strong >> mike, what do you think of those tweaks >> so one of the points i would quickly make is that if you were going to extend the tenor, that is, the maturity of the short option, you definitely want to go further out of the money than the one i selected that straight calendar is just trying to take advantage of the fact that the stock doesn't tend to move that much the week they report earnings. if you give it more time, this is a stock that could obviously move substantially higher, up to the average analyst price target of 285 or even higher. fur going to move to a diagonal and use a longer-dated expiration, you definitely want to choose the short strike that's a little bit further out of the mone

mike: it is really important. in terms of the supply dynamic from a negative, meaning companies leveling up to a positive because it actually results in credit improvement because you are lowering your interest expense, or pushing out majorities, you are lowering your default risk. weird -- we are continuing to like a high-yield market for those reasons. jon: how different is it compared to what it looked like last summer? greg: there was a lot of concern in terms of what was happening with covid and how quickly the economy can recover and how we can manage through the pandemic. there is a lot of confidence because we are making good progress in terms of getting folks vaccinated. this ultimately will allow people to get back to something that looks more like normal behavior in terms of activities and sectors that have been harmed because of lack of interaction. there is a lot of positive news being priced in and it seems to be rightfully priced in, what we have seen investor demand. when we are talking about high

mike what's your trade? >> netflix is an interesting case, there's obviously fund amount strengths, 200 million subscribers. obviously the pandemic helped to fuel some of that growth but we're seeing a lot of reasons why it might continue going forward, they're clearly the winner in the streaming space and carter pointed out their valuation has basically been declining for a period of time it's actually right now, the pe is at a system-year low. thing to -- six-year low that's still just under 70 month trailing earnings so cheaper not cheap. so take advantage of two dynamics in the price of options right now. first, the three-month options in netflix are essentially at a two-year low in terms of applied volatility so we get to own convexity by purchasing those and because we have earnings catalyst coming up near-date options are expensive implying 7.5 move might not sound much but it is in line with 8 quarter average but this is a high company and 7.5% represents a big move. i was looking at july calls. buyi
