she studied in france. she studied in paris in vienna. while she was there, obviously she was able to learn the language and became fluent in it, but more importantly when you spend a significant amount of time in a country you really get to understand their culture and when you're gonna go in undercover having an idea of what our cultural norms in a specific city or country is very helpful. it's very useful. this made her more effective in the field and virginia always knew she wanted to be overseas and have adventure and so she wanted to be a foreign service officer and i was her dream. she decided to apply to the state department and she became a clerk in multiple cities overseas while she was stationed in turkey though. she had a hunting accident virginia growing up again a little different than most young girls her father actually taught her how to shoot weapons. she knew how to shoot guns and would hunt on her family farm. and so when she was in turkey, she was hunting and she tripped and she accidentally shot the lower part of her
